Having people round...

Hi, looking for someone who can explain exactly what the rules are for being indoors with other people. I’m still trying to keep most interactions outside and at a distance but have family who want to see my little one and come round.

I looked it up but I have more questions/need it clarifying so if someone doesn’t mind explaining what the rules are being inside? only people from two households? can I have another household round everyday?

The guidance is different depending on where you live but in England You can have another household inside, but the guidance is to maintain social distancing. How much this is possible/people are doing it is varied I think.
You can have different household visiting at different times, although are asked to make your own judgements about how many different households it is sensible to be mixing with in a short space of time. (All pretty vague and open to interpretation though).

Assuming you're in England, you're only actually breaking the law if you have a gathering of more than 30 people. But the guidance recommends that no more than two households meet indoors at the same time, and even then that people from different households socially distance.

@DamitJanet

Super - thank you. That helps a lot. Shame it’s vague. I very much want to remain quite isolated until it’s definitely all over but my partner wants to start having people round. I wanted to know if the rules were in my favour. Shame we can ask Boris himself, if he even knows the answers. Many thanks again.

The bottom line is that meeting outdoors is lower risk. Is there any reason why you can't meet up with your family outside?

@LilyPond2

Yes, I am England. I probably should have clarified that, oops! Thank you very much for the insight into the rules. Personally, doesn’t make sense for you to be able to go inside but have to remain distanced - think I’ll have to stick to socially distanced meetings outside!

@LilyPond2 my partner wants to go see his family and take our little one. His family are very controlling and will make him come inside but I’m too scared for my little girl to be exposed to that yet as his family work in hospitals, schools & shops. My household is still quite isolated so I’m feeling anxious. I was hoping the rules were on my side with not having people inside.
