Trying not to cry

I have to take my little boy for his 1 year vaccinations this afternoon which I would be dreading anyway as it’s a load at once and it’s not pleasant is it? But they have said I should wear a mask and the mask thing is crap anyway.... but I can’t even give him a reassuring smile. The normal human loving response to your baby is just taken away. I don’t know why I’m posting I just feel like I’m bottling up a big cry lol of course he will get over it and never remember it. But it’s just another reminder of this new way we need to live and it’s crap Sad

Thank you, think I need to wear the mask more around the house to get him
Used to it. It’s not going away is it? Lol funny world we are in right now!

Wearing the mask now and then in the house is a good idea.

Staplemaple · 29/07/2020 19:47

I'm sure it'll be fine @Sassenach85. DS cried earlier when I took mine off, kind of offensive but Grin

My 1 year old thinks my mask his hilarious. She was literally wetting herself laughing when I pushed her round tesco earlier on in the week! She also had her MMR last monday. Watch out over the next week or so.... She decided to get a temperature yesterday and I called up the Dr's to see whether it was jab related, he said no and told me to book the whole house covid tests!! Then read the red book and it quite clearly states that up to two weeks after they can have temperature spikes. Bloody doctor!! 😒

MrsWarleggan

I really hope you did organise Covid tests?

Yes of course your DD's temperature was likely due to vaccinations.

But in this time of Covid, every Covid symptom should be reported, test taken if decided by GP, so that you can rule out Covid.

It's literally the only way to manage Covid as we open up society more, and move into autumn / winter.

@cptartapp

Practice nurse here. We always ask patients to wait after vaccination. Virus or not.
That is interesting. Pre covid I was always asked to wait 15 mins after with my 2 sons. My daughtee had her first injections a few weeks ago and I was in and out in a few minutes

What about something like this?

Trying not to cry

@YouUnlockedTheGateAnd loving the mask lol!! I think that would def get a smile. He’s such a happy wee boy it brought a tear to my eye he looked so bewildered like wtf is wrong with you mummy get that thing off!! It was horrible wearing a mask I need a better one! I have avoided wearing one until today believe it or not. The nurses were hard to understand under their masks and all I could think was just hurry up so we can go. They did say we did not need to wait about and that if he gets a fever in the next 5 weeks just give Calpol!! I was a bit surprised at that. Also if he gets a rash check with a glass.

We had no issues until about 10 days later and then he had a few really grumpy days where his legs were sore and he needed calpol before bed!
