Would you get tested for a rash?

My mum came out of hospital on Wednesday & as of yesterday has a rash.

According the the ZOE app, this is now flagged as one of the symptoms.

DM tested negative whilst in hospital but obviously could have picked it up whilst she was in.

I think it would be sensible to get a test. Testing helps stop the spread by enabling contacts to be traced and reducing the risk that people inadvertently have contact with others while infectious.

RaggieDolls · 29/07/2020 07:33

I think you should. I don't want to worry you and anecdote isn't evidence but the only symptom my friends son had before testing positive was a rash.

I think she needs a test if only to put your mind st rest.

Bmidreams · 29/07/2020 07:35

Yes definitely.

Rayne30 · 29/07/2020 07:39

Yes, I know someone who’s main symptom was this

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 29/07/2020 09:51

Yes i would

Under the circumstances...one of my children quite often has a rash instead of any other symptoms of any other illness

yeOldeTrout · 29/07/2020 11:56

I very much doubt I would. Not for a rash alone. I get rashes from other things frequently.

Nquartz · 29/07/2020 13:35

I think she should but she's been told by her GP she might have suddenly become allergic to the blood pressure medication that she's been on for years 🤷🏻‍♀️

The GP has prescribed new blood pressure medication & something for the itching, if it doesn't help (or if she develops any other symptoms) I'll encourage her to get tested.

It just seems too much of a coincidence...

Just in case anyone is interetsed, DM went to urgent care yesterday becAuse her arm & hand were really swollen, she had a temp (checked on arrival) but the rash is apparently a normal reaction possibly to the drugs she had in hospital but she booked herself in for a drive through test today to be on the safe side.

Thanks for the update

Drive through test can’t hurt and it will put everyones mind at ease

That's what DM thought. She lives v close so we've been popping into hers since the rules changed & DD has been going to holiday club so it seems sensible to be cautious

Absolutely

Dh went a few weeks ago, he knew by the following morning that it was all clear and it was very reassuring

RaggieDolls · 02/08/2020 22:10

How's your mum OP?

Nquartz · 03/08/2020 07:50

@RaggieDolls thank you for asking, she tested negative but still has the rash (luckily not as itchy though). She has a steak of red/bumps up her hand/arm from where her first cannula was fitted so she thinks it'd related to the IV drugs.

Were still keeping our distance though, just in case.

Pleased her test was negative. Was she on losartan? There are incidents of people developing an intolerance to it after years and coming out in hives strange as thar sounds.

Hopefully the rash will clear up soon.
