No more gym - treadmill advice!

This is kind of Covid related as, due to the virus I have decided to not currently return to my gym.

I would like to purchase a lightweight, ideally foldable treadmill. I know that it is a case of getting what you pay for and that ideally, a heavy one is better but I have a lack of space for it, couldn't get a heavy one into my spare room and I only really want it to run, say 3 miles on every other day. Has anybody got any recommendations?

Thank you!

I think treadmills are a problem - you really do get what you pay for. I bought two in the past, and neither was satisfactory, which isn't surprising given the 'real' ones are about £10k.

Have you thought about a rowing machine? It is better in terms of cardio and muscle-toning and core; and far less demanding on the knees. You can get an Olympic grade one for £1,000, which is unheard of with a treadmill.

We have a Concept2 Model D, which is foldable.

Thanks BertiesLanding.

I hadn't thought of a rower -does it tone your legs/bum?

Oh yes! Very much so! And your arms and abs too.

I in wouldn't go for a cheap treadmill as I find they have a tendency to bounce/wobble when you run. I bought a decent one (£700) just before lockdown and it's really sturdy. But takes up ALOT of space! It does fold, but not in such a way that it makes much difference to the space it takes up.

Would definitely go for a rower if you're stuck for space. They seem to fold up pretty well from what I've seen.

I did a fair bit of research on this before lockdown. I really want a treadmill, but it seems from lots of stuff I read, that if you're going for one piece of home cardio kit, it's a rower you need. Then weights really.
