Trying to get my act together for later on in the year whilst the weather is rubbish and there are no rainy day things to take the DC to.

I am still flummoxed by VitD levels. Can anyone put it to me simply what kind of VitD supplement I (adult, 50) I should be taking and what I can give to my 11 and 15 year old in the Autumn/ Winter?

10ug is advised for everyone - adults and children
For adults a maximum of 100ug can be taken.

I take 25ug, dh takes whatever amount is in his multivitamins.
My kids take a spray which contains10ug in 2 sprays

I think haliborange do a nice one for children. I have to take 20,000 iu three times a week and I have no side effects. So a low dose should be fine x

With regards IU : 10ug = 400IU
25ug = 1000IU
100ug = 4000IU

We take more than that, 1000 IU. I get these jellies - in says age 12+

These are the only ones my teen DC will take, they don't like tablets..

Smaller children could be different though.

This is what NHS says:

If you choose to take vitamin D supplements,10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people.

Do not take more than 100 micrograms of vitamin Da day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11 to 17 years.

Children aged 1 to 10 years should not have more than 50 micrograms a day. Infants under 12 months should not have more than 25 micrograms a day.

I’m deficient in various minerals and I only need to take 20 micro grams which is 800 iu daily. And that’s on a prescription so you don’t need to take loads if you’re a normally healthy person just wanting that extra benefit.

We use this one (when I remember to take it) and it seems good.
