Somehow dd has picked up a cold. I assume that’s what it is anyway-sore throat and copious amounts of snot.
What do I do? Get her tested for Covid anyway? Keep her at home ( not that we’re really going anywhere anyway but she has been seeing friends) keep the whole family at home?
I’m slightly concerned that if she’s been able to catch a cold she hasn’t been distancing/hand washing well enough to avoid Covid either...
I guess this is what it will be like for the next year or so?!

I think if she doesn’t have one if the core symptoms, it’s probably a cold.

Cough, fever, etc

I’m the same... got viral tonsillitis but have been social Distancing And not going anywhere inside so no idea how I got it!!!

Weird thing is she hardly ever gets colds-perhaps every 3 years or so. Why would she get one in the summer when most people are doing their best to avoid passing on any germs!

Our 3.5 year old came down with exactly what you describe. She also lost her voice as well for 2 days. Then we both came down with it. We went off for a covid test and all negative. I still feel rough but the others are OK, so there is a summee cold doing the rounds it would seem. We have no idea where we picked it up as no-one else at childcare seem to have it, and we haven't really been anywhere else without distancing and masks.

Could it be hay fever? I get a scratchy throat and loads of snot when mine plays up.

We managed to get something in lockdown mid apr and it was either from dc2 who had something from march but obviously thats a long time earlier or from the supermarket delivery guy despite obviously being outside and 1m+ away.

Some viruses are very airborne apparently measles etc. Interesting that it's the more serious ones or spotty ones that they know are airborne as i guess it's easier to identify when someone caught it.

Also some viruses live for months on surfaces so easy to catch something else

I don’t think it’s hayfever-seems like classic cold.
She did get freezing cold in a paddling pool the other day but I know that you don’t get a cold from being cold. Seems a bit of a coincidence though!

My DS has been snotty for a couple of weeks, as long as theres no temperature or cough I wouldn't worry.
