What 'normal' things have you done recently and how has it been?

In the last 3 weeks I have:
Been round the shops in 3 towns/cities
Had my hair dyed
Been on the train
Been on the bus
Had a massage.
Had 2 friends over in my house to watch a film.

The first time I went round the shops definitely felt v weird as a lot of the shops were shut and there weren't many pp around, but this week it felt much more like normal, although the social distancing signs and instructions can be quite confusing and you have to pay attention and be aware of the signs and how different shops do things differently.

It's not enjoyable but I do want to get over my fear and start living again now.

How about you, how's it been?

Stopped social distancing with my family after my dad had a heart attack back in June. My kids have played with their cousins regularly since then.
Been on holiday to Yorkshire. Visited pubs, cafes, parks and fairgrounds. It was all totally fine. Some places have managed the one way systems and staff PPE better than others, there was one place where table service was a disaster but that was all.
Need to phone my hairdresser and praying my eyebrow lady will open up on August 1st! I had an op in Jan so I was only just getting back on my feet in March so my hair and brows haven't been done since December!!!

@Waspnest

We went to the seaside and ate fish and chips in the car on the sea front. It felt lovely and normal until a group of people dressed in black with an ALDI bag came along, read from a bible and scattered ashes into the sea at which point it became a bit surreal.

DH has said that since I love the ALDI middle aisle of crap so much he will do exactly the same thing when I die.

😂

Went to the gym. There were difficulties - no lockers, and you can’t take a bag in. They assumed everybody drove so could leave the bag in the car but I walk, and it’s quite hard to carry water, gymcard, phone, headphones, a towel (they want you to have a towel) and your cash card, on a 30 min walk without a bag. Also you can’t refill your bottle anymore, and I usually get through at least two. And the air conditioning wasn’t on, so it was pretty hot. Wiping down handles of all the equipment before and after use was a bit tedious but fine.

Went out for exercise many times/day
Sold stuff on Ebay
Visited a zoo
Bought a shirt in a charity shop, took donations to charity shop
Gave my friend a hug (she needed it), went for cycle rides with her. We are planning meals out in August.
Went to a beach side cafe & had a hot chocolate & donuts from a cafe (sat outside).
DH stayed overnight at his mum's house.
Teen DC have seen friends.
Put teen DC on plane to holiday abroad

The list of pre-covid life things I routinely did but still can't do is very long.

Went to a cafe for the first time yesterday and it was a lovely slice of almost normality. Ordered food through an app, tables spaced out more and some servers wore masks but it was a relaxed atmosphere and I got to have tea and cake just like the old days

We’ve been to four different theme parks, two of them had very long queues due to reduced capacity on rides and extra cleaning but that’s fine as it’s for our safety. One was fine the other was completely dead. We have stayed in three hotels, all fairly normal other than you are served your buffet breakfast rather than helping yourself. We ve been to the pub a few times, it is fairly quiet and we ve also been to the zoo which was also fine, quieter than usual with no indoor exhibits open. It all feels fairly normal to be honest with a bit more queuing and sanitising, we are going on holiday to Cornwall next week but staying in self contained accommodation so I can’t see it being any different to other years, all the things we want to do are open.

I've been on holiday out of the country. Had my hair done. Been to the pub.
Hopefully going away again next month too.

PumpkinPie2016 · 26/07/2020 11:51

Had a haircut
Been to the dentist
Went to Clarks for shoes for DS.
Picked up a takeaway.

Did some days in work before the Summer holidays.

All felt fine -lots of precautions and social distancing.

We are going to the Lakes for a holiday in August. We stay in a remote cottage, only us there. Planning to eat in and do outdoor activities such as walks. May take DS to a small swimming pool we have been to before. Won't be doing boat trips/cafes/pubs etc.

Listened to the Test Match on the radio. I was pleasantly surprised at how "normal" it felt. In March I certainly didn't think I'd be listening to cricket this summer, so feeling very happy.
