I just add I have worked for 37 years apart from a few years out with pre school dcs.I love working and often get called a workaholic for my long hours and commitment.
I also suffer anxiety so struggle to do much outside work like socialising or travelling far.Lockdown has been good for me as I have seen my dh and DS and had time for food and walking.
The last few weeks have been stressful finding out if any of us still have our jobs,we do.Now I find myself feeling emotional and tearful which is not like me at all!.I normally push on through life.I did ask my boss if I can do a phased return as he knows I struggle in social situations but not normally work.
I don't have a Rota yet but I'm back next week.
Anyone else feel like this on their return and how long did it last?

I went back to work on Monday.

I felt the same - I had the phone call on Thursday saying I was back (working remotely for now) and it was like all the stress and anxiety that is suppressed over the past 4 months bubbled to the surface.
It was very unexpected on my part.

Anyway, I’m back now and I feel fine. Happy to still have a job and getting back into the real world.

Oh good😀I did pop in to meet a new member of staff and it was nice to have a conversation.!
I feel silly and know I worked 12 hour days before.I've just lost my confidence.Glad you are ok.

I work in a school term time and feel this way every year after the summer holidays. It's really hard, but I find after a couple of days back it's like you have never been away.

Staplemaple · 22/07/2020 10:55

It's surprising how quickly it feels like you haven't been away after an extended period off (don't know if that's a good thing or a bit worrying). Glad you still have your job, I'm sure you confidence will grow quickly once you are back, youre obviously an asset to them so try and have some faith in yourself.

Yes I feel the same, back in September in a new role in my department (which I got two days before lockdown).

Dreading it, haven’t got the motivation to learn a new role after months of feeling quite flat.

Have to ask for reduced hours too, as no wraparound at my children’s school.

Parked it for now, and trying not to think about it too much.

Thank you all.😀It is such a weird feeling.I work in a fast paced environment so I'm sure doing a million things at once will help.I have been popping out once a day to help myself and getting up early anyway.I just have this feeling of impending doom which is silly.

I had the same feeling. It goes away really quickly. You’ll be absolutely fine.

Came back Monday and yes with a weeks lead up I was really quite anxious. The anticipation was so much worse than the reality. A day of feeling like the newbie all over again and now its just the norm again.

whatisforteamum · 22/07/2020 14:04

That is reassuring.Thanks.
