I am anyways more vvulnerable to the virus . I am still trying to do most stuff from home .we live in a flat .My child gets extremely bored and due to the current summer holidays there comes a situation where he demands to go to the park . I also live in a community area so transmission rate would be high .my partner has no time to take the kid out for scooter ride etc .I am really fearful to be honest. I usually try avoiding parks etc and have made a deal with my kid that we shall go to the carpark when no one is there. But my kid demands have increased and I fear going regularly out I might be more prone or at higher risk .what can I do ?

I think you need to assess the risk of staying in vs going out. If you wear a mask, use hand gel whilst out and wash your hands on returning you will be protecting yourself. The case numbers are low at the moment too. You need to start going out or it might become a serious issue. Try little excursions and build up to longer times and more importantly enjoy yourself with your child. Obviously this is just my opinion but it worked for me. I have a vulnerable child and we confidently go out now. Hope you get on ok.

Personally I feel that I will be more at risk if my blood sugars are not well controlled and exercise is one of the best things for good control. So I think getting out into some of the less crowded areas regularly is a good thing.

I'm type 1 and have been trying to get out more regularly. I took the kids to a national trust place this week for the first time this year I think! We loved it! I even felt ok that we went into the shop (we were pretty much the only daft ones that did) and the kids got to browse and spend money. We needed it. We also went to the park for a picnic with friends the other day. I was on edge for the first 30 mins but soon relaxed.
If we are likely going to get a second wave at the end of the year, the summer is the safest time. People are still being cautious and keeping their distance. If their clubs open up which emails suggest they will do, I'm going to allow them to go. But we've already discussed with them that I may withdraw them later in the year (dd2 is vulnerable too).
They deserve a break from it all. I think the risk is as low as it will be before we get a vaccine 🤞

My brothers girlfriend is type 1 and she went back to work in a school in june. She has taken their little boy out for walks allover and last week took him to the fair. One of the school mams is diabetic too but she has been to get her nails done and is meeting me and some of the other mams for a picnic tomorrow. The risks from an outdoor walk are ao small... The balance of getting out for some fresh air and exercise outweigh the risks. Hope you manage to get out and about

I am also type 1 and have been working in a classroom since beginning of June. Off now, but meeting up with friends, going to shops, back to the gym soon.

I am being careful with social distancing, regular hand washing etc, but have to live my life also.

I don't have any other issues, such as being over 50, BAME, obese, etc, and am well controlled. I have dealt with challenges being diabetic for over 40 years, to me this is just another one. Just take care, and try to enjoy your child. Mine are teenagers now and I barely see them!
