Calling all Self catering cleaners..

Back to work today for Saturday changeover.. and what a nightmare!

No time between guests leaving and me going in, they didn't bother to strip the beds and place in bag as requested, but it's ok apparently, they don't have Covid they informed me (what, did they do a test this morning? how can they possibly know fgs!?)..
..and don't get me started on the disposable masks provided by the employer! Sweating like a pig and stretched within an hour, whats the point of a mask?? theres no-one else in the building, and it will NOT protect me from any air bourne transmission left by guests (what will?)

How are you finding the extra work we have to do now?
Do you feel safe? I sure as hell don't, no wonder so many cleaners are jacking it in around here, i've had cottage owners practically begging me to clean for them! Is it the same where you are?

I started last week and had to go in the day after they left. Not much space between bookings which is worrying. I thought the same about masks - they’re not protecting us, we’re on our own but they are advised. Why! I wear a surgical one as it’s a bit more breathable.
That’s really bad that they didn’t strip the beds :( at least my guests did that. I have some others checking out tomorrow and I really hope they do too. Good idea asking them to put them into bags. I will try that. Towels too. The last guests had them strewn all over the place.
I don’t feel that unsafe though. I go in, blitz everything with antiviral spray which I have litres of and I wear gloves which I change after putting bedding and towels in to bags. I also open all the windows and doors when I’m working. Loads of hot soapy water then more anti viral spray and it can’t be that dangerous can it? I hope!
None of our local cleaners have jacked it in, they’re even keen on helping do the laundry but I got a proper company to take it away instead.

Hi Realitea, at least going in the day after they left gives you 24 hours to let the dust settle as they say, which is something..
But yes if you can provide bags at least that keeps bedding/ towels contact to a minimum, which helps.. I know some of the Lets are quarantining duvets for a week, swapping them with another on a rotation..
Did you have to run all cutlery, crockery, glasses etc through the dishwasher too? i did 3 loads, and that didnt include any saucepans!
Must just be around here where cleaners are deciding its not worth the risk and leaving, others are charging £70 - £100 a clean!
Yes, i opened windows and doors first thing, or i wouldve melted for a start.. So much to think about, a whole new routine!

It definitely takes longer now and it’s not the sort of cleaning I used to do. Before I would zone out and feel relaxed while cleaning but now it’s high concentration making sure I’ve done absolutely everything.
If the house isn’t going to be used in the week I leave the cutlery and pans but if there’s a mid week booking I just do t have time. There are hundreds of pots and pans. It’s a really big house.
For the smaller places I do. Tomorrow I have to go in straight after they check out which I don’t like to do but I don’t really have a choice.
I’m hoping as long as I don’t shake the bedding and towels it’s safe to put the bedding in to bags and then change gloves for the rest.
I wish I could charge £70 - £100 a clean!
I’ve been doing this for so many years and I really enjoy it so I can’t imagine giving up.
