And all the districts and boroughs surrounding mine! I'm totally shocked. I thought they'd be thousands.

Alas, kimlo, we are not neighbours.
I'm West Midlands.

Looks like we're both in towns and regions that have been/are high risk though.

Yester · 19/07/2020 08:54

It also relies on people going to get tested. My neighbour has been coughing for the last week but didn't get tested. In part as it might mean they can't work if one person is positive.

WhentheDealGoesDown · 19/07/2020 08:56

387 in my area since March We have been in the middle all along, neither good nor bad so probably won’t lockdown but can’t be complacent

TeddyIsaHe · 19/07/2020 09:06

295 cases in my city since March (pop. 195,000) 1 death in my postcode area. That’s wildly better than I thought. Might actually go and have a pint next weekend in a pub. Exciting!

feelingverylazytoday · 19/07/2020 09:27

The daily rate is NA for my local authority. There has been 311 confirmed cases, in a population of around 90,000. Surprised it's that low since many people commute to London, but people are pretty good about social distancing.

pepsicola5 · 19/07/2020 09:53

Population of 135000 and 265 positive tests here. So 0.2% of us have had it. Less than 2 in every 1000 people.I thought it would be far higher!

@dementedpixie and anyone else in Scotland - good stats for us here: www.travellingtabby.com/scotland-coronavirus-tracker/

The daily numbers for England, when looking at data, are concerning aren't they? When you compare daily data from mid - end of May and throughout June to this past week there's a big rise.

pepsicola5 · 19/07/2020 13:27

@TheDrsDocMartens blimey. 0.2% cases where I am. Just goes to show how vastly different the figures are across the UK.

Are you looking at cases by date reported?

If so, then no, they are not concerning. The included data for that graph changed on July 1; previous it just has cases from Pillar 1 (those with a medical need or healthcare workers); after that, it includes Pillar 2 as well (community testing). So yes it rose but you can't compare the data as its looking at different things.

You need to look at cases by date of specimen, which has all the Pillar testing backdated by day and shows a steady fall, with a flattening out towards this last week (though we are doing more testing so this is to be expected and not indicative of a general UK wide rise).

This is our area, on data there is a day with 1 case, yet thats the day a friend and her mum tested positive. So is the data reflecting the date they got a positive result or the date they were tested?

We were hit early on and have a large proportion of elderly and couple of heavily hit care homes.
By the time schools closed some of ours were already closed and others half empty. We know a lot of ‘probably had it in March’ people but there was no testing to prove it.

It should reflect the day the specimen was taken, although I suspect the system is far from perfect, as we regularly get adjustments to the country-wide data.

Thank you.

No problem. It is very misleading the way they have done it by putting the graphs together and not explaining clearly on the page what the differences are.
