Are you trying to get routine appointments like dentist, smear tests, even a haircut (possibly) in the next few weeks before autumn?

I honestly can't decide but feel like it might be now or next year :(

Yes absolutely. We have dentist appointments and trying to get hair ones. The dc's can barely see through their long unevenly cut (by me) fringes. I would much rather go out now when the risk is lower than need dental treatment that could have been prevented if/when a second wave pops up.

Yes I have been out and about I had to I feel my mental health is more important than the virus !!!! If I catch it I catch it ... I would more likely die of suicide with depression (which I don't have now ) I have an eye appt next week /had a tattoo /dentist /hairdressers /nails .... and I might even go back to the office in September x

That's a good point the dentists might be forced to close down again soon. Ok, I will ring in case they can actually do something.

SecondWave · 18/07/2020 09:10

No. I am not doing any of that.

I shaved my head in lockdown so no need to go hairdressers again.

Dentist not doing check-ups, just emergencies, same regarding opticians and doctors. My doctors are not even doing my B12 injections, I have been doing them myself with syringes I had to buy off the good old internetHmm

I do not work so have no reason to go out. I am in the vulnerable group.

I should add, I live in Pendle, second only to LeicesterShock

Just to say I don't necessarily think dentists will all be made to close again, but I am expecting to have disruption caused by self isolation when a dentist gets a normal winter cough.

I am quite Confused about false negatives and then people going back to work. I would worry about that with a dentist!!

I suppose that's a sign of how much I don't want to lose the tooth to decay. Dentist having 'Rona & giving it to me & me getting stuck on house arrest (something I hugely dread) is a risk I am quite willing to take.

Plucked up all my courage to venture bout for a smear 2 weeks ago.
Received a phone call two days later to say the nurse who did it had labelled the sample incorrectly so the sample couldn't be tested.
They can't do a repeat smear now for three months.Angry

labyrinthloafer · 18/07/2020 13:52

@Spied that is enraging!

Applesandpears23 · 18/07/2020 13:58

Not worth the risk for a haircut. I would go for a smear if it was due. I am trying to think of things that we should do before 2nd wave. Mainly things like buy more yeast and flour.

I went to the hairdresser last week and it was stressful. The plastic apron annoyed me ( do we really need more plastic waste in landfill ?) and my hairdresser looked uncomfortable behind her face shield. She's had a rough time of it so I did feel for her.
Hair cut was ok and she was able to dry it which was good. They were very strict with mask wearing and cleaning.
No luck with the dentist : I doubt I'll see anyone now till Christmas for a check up!
Been in a cafe for breakfast and that wasn't too bad and we had to write our details down. It was outside and the tables had screens between them , so that was ok.
It's still strange times though.

raspberryshake · 19/07/2020 18:44

I have to say I've gone to my appointments. I had dentist check up, chiropractor and haircut. My husband is shielding and I came home, changed and showered after each appt. I've been going shopping and on site to work (critical national infrastructure, but not a key worker) as well and just been fastidious about hygiene and cleaning. I think come November the rules around shielding might tighten again, so the weans and I need to access gp, dentist, etc before then.

I’ve seen the hygienist , dentist , botoxer and hairdresser . Looking forward to booking a wax and eyebrow tint .
