Yep unfortunately...sigh...in Oadby & Wigston...sigh
Just wondering what others might be making of all of this?
I’m very alarmed at the lack of transparent and reliable information being shared with residents caught up in this local lockdown.
It seems we don’t really know (or aren’t being told) what the original triggers or cause of infection spread is. I’m wondering how we can be expected to find the right solutions if we don’t have a basic understanding of what exactly has gone so wrong here.
I’m not a conspiracy theory subscriber and worked as a health professional for the NHS for 30 years...I’m just confused and I don’t know anyone at all that’s tested positive despite 3 pop up testing centres within walking distance and thousands locally included in an asymptomatic testing programme.
I can see very little respite on the horizon lovely people.

This might be of interest <a class="break-all" href="https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-53456235?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus&link_location=live-reporting-story" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leicestershire-53456235?intlink_from_url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus&link_location=live-reporting-story

Lockdown might not work, anyway

I don't live in Leicester ,I live in Bolton ,but my town has a,large Asian population too ,and often there are families with multi generations living together too ,and I have seen groups of young Asian male,s meeting up in the Park behind my house ,we have had a larger than average rate of infection ,but thankfully we have not had to be locked down again

I'm in the lockdown zone, it's shit isn't it. We're about half a mile from the red line and there have been fewer than five cases in our area. We're going to our nearest park and supermarket which are outside the red line, because it'd be ridiculous for us to travel further and closer to more positive cases just to stay inside 'the danger zone'.

Friends in other parts of the country seem to think Leicester have some kind of special information source so we know what's going on, and are shocked when we tell them we know as much as them (i.e. very little).

Can you still do out for talks / exercise? I hope ti is over soon Flowers think I would be tempted to order nice food and booze and watch plenty of Netflix..

It's a bit of an odd set of restrictions, we're back to where everyone else was before non-essential shops re-opened at the end of June but with the 6 people outside socially distanced and bubble with single adult household addition.

What's really really frustrating is that schools in Leicester broke up for summer 13th July and go back 26th August. We were looking forward to taking DD out to the beach or cinema or anywhere at all that isn't a walk in the park and we're going to be halfway through the summer holidays by the time we have the next review.

Well you have lost the top spot to Blackburn. I can't believe that 250 were allowed to attend a funeral at the mosque on July 13th where the iman has tested positive.

For crying out loud! Been waiting all day to find out if we'll be released from lockdown today, they keep shifting it back and back and back.

Just fucking tell us you bunch of Government twazzocks!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 30/07/2020 20:56

They could have dealt with those areas (with a high BAME population) a couple of weeks ago with smaller lockdown areas and closing buildings and premises etc , like Boris announced the other day would be coming into place

Unfortunately that would almost certainly result in cries of racism, which could explain why enforcement has reportedly been almost non-existent in these areas

HarleyD45 · 30/07/2020 23:07

Hooray
Oadby & Wigston have some freedom...I’m so so hoping it lasts

I also hope any areas going into local lockdown are soon in a better place too but have to say it’s starting to look like these spikes are just another new normal Covid challenge.
Whatever we do with local measures it’s got to be well managed, swift and targeted, all the things they said it would be and I fear wasn’t for us.

I'm in Leicester city, honestly no real clue what will or won't be reopening. Giving up for today, hopefully the government will have something in writing by tomorrow.

MarshaBradyo · 30/07/2020 23:16

I found this new interactive map showing coronavirus cases in the last week by postcode. I am in London and at first I thought it wasn't working because no area near me has any cases

Yeh same here I just googled my area and I found it surprising. I don’t know if it will go up again.

Op so tough, so hard to be in a restricted area.

Foxes157 · 30/07/2020 23:17

Thankfully they've been released. So much of my life is based in wigston.
