Can trampoline parks open now?

Flip out trampoline park and a local inflatable park are opening on the 25th of this month. Surely they come under the same as soft play? They seem to think they are a leisure centre and can open with the gyms?

I'd be interested to see how that works with social distancing?!

Teacher12345 · 16/07/2020 22:10

I know. I just can't see how they think they can open?

It's a great shame but I don't think I'm taking my kids to one of those places any time soon....

Teacher12345 · 16/07/2020 22:26

But Are they allowed to open? Soft play isn't so surely these can't?

Just before lockdown, our nearest trampoline park was pushing the idea that they were the safest place to go. The one person to a trampoline square rule means built in 2m distancing.

SellFridges · 16/07/2020 22:30

Ours is also opening on the 25th. I assume they’re classed as a gym. I can see how they can handle social distancing FAR better than soft play tbh.

I won’t be rushing back. Give me the shivers at the best of times.

Teacher12345 · 16/07/2020 22:34

@CaptainMerica but the kids don't stay on one trampoline do they. They bounce on all of them! And they have all the obstacle courses to santise after every kid.

@SellFridges I agree if I had to pick one, it would be trampoline parks but I don't understand how they are classed as a gym. They are indoor play? Their primary purpose is to entertain.

Surely it's not that different to them all being at school in September in their usual class sizes?

Rhayader · 16/07/2020 22:44

@Shieldingending at least in school they can do track and trace properly.

My dd loves rock climbing and they are opening up on the 25th like gyms. It’s impossible to clean the climbing holds between uses.... 🤷‍♀️

Teacher12345 · 16/07/2020 23:03

@Shieldingending surely at school they are being kept in "bubbles" of 30 kids. The head has told us that no classes will mixig at any point in the dinner hall or the playground. Plus school is pretty essential.
These places are filthy at the best of times and the kids are all from different households on top of the families they are exposed to at school.

They can track and trace in trampling places you just take contact details on entry and note time. Most did timed sessions before hand so easier to say who was there between 10-12 than a bar or restaurant actually. They also clear out between sessions so could build in time to clean and I reduced numbers and seems totally possible to do relatively safely. I mean if pubs and gyms can open this does seem possible and as for the “kids don’t socially distance” argument neither do adults but we don’t keep the adult economy shut!

Why would you need to clean then between uses? You just wash your hands before and after. You're not going to be touching your face mid climb.

Looking forward to taking my kids to both of these types of places over the summer. They've had a pretty boring inactive year so I'm happy to take the risks. More risk of them breaking a leg than catching Covid.

TimeForLunch · 17/07/2020 18:53

Really pleased to hear they will be reopening. DS was asking to go to one a few days ago and I had assumed it wouldn't be possible. No need to sanitise equipment after each child! That doesn't happen in other places such as playgrounds. Just practice good hygiene like you would anywhere else.
