Would you allow your teenager to go to a water park?

Just that really. They’ve been out very rarely since end of March and a group of them want to go to a water park.

I just can’t decide if it’s sensible now to agree to it. What would be your concerns?

Thanks

I didn't realise such places were open again.

Yes I think I would allow it. The chances are they would go whether you allow or not.

I meant to add that we’ve planned to see grandparents 14 days after younger child finished school tomorrow. We’ve not seen them since February as they live 2 hours away from us.
Teenager wants to go to the water park at the end of July.

What kind of water park? One with flumes or something like the Cotswold water park with lakes? If with flumes (and it was open) I'd let them go if they're decent enough swimmers as there'll be lifeguards. If lakes it would depend on what they're planning on doing (organised activity, go for a walk, open water swim etc). I wouldn't let them go if I thought they'd go swimming without supervision.

Yes I would. Outdoor pools are fine. I'm less keen on the idea of indoor pools being open.

Depends if you are intending to pretty much self isolate for the 14 days. Then clearly they can't go. If you weren't then can't see why going to the water park is any more risky than just hanging round the park with their friends.

I wouldn't let them go if I thought they'd go swimming without supervision Agree, water parks and lidos/outdoor pools, fine. Lakes, not fine (but ds wouldn't go anyway as he got a parasite from a lake a few years ago).

The park they want to go to is reopening on the 25th of July. They’ve been before. They’re generally well behaved and the park is well supervised.

I’m just wondering about the risk of Covid-19 and going to see grandparents before a further 14 day period from teenager going to the water park.

Yes based on your first message

No based on the fact you're seeing grandparents.

Could you compromise with them and they go once you've seen grandparents? Surely they're old enough to understand the risk to their relatives ?
