COVID can i hug my mum?

I am having trouble understanding the rules of bubbles. I am one of three siblings, my mum lives across country near one sibling and they are a bubble. She is coming to visit and stay with my other sibling (who lives near me) and I can imagine they will probably be hugging each other. So when I visit them, am I allowed to hug my mum, or should I be social distancing?

My parents are in their 70s and we have visited them in the garden throughout lockdown, but we have not been in their house yet and we are remaining 2m away and have not hugged them, and we have not allowed the DC to hug them either.

I’m amazed that everyone seems to have forgteen about social distancing.

@StatisticalSense

You need to stay 2 meters away. Those posters who are advocating for people ignoring these restrictions while at the same time are moaning about the government relaxing restrictions that are essential for the provision of a functioning economy are the biggest hypocrites in existence.
I'm for breaking the rules and hugging, and I'm very much for gvmt relaxing things

OpheliasCrayon...to what extent? Surely you realise relaxing any more than we already have could cause a spike in cases?

It’s okay to go to work but not okay to hug your mum.

Hug your mum FFS. The police aren’t going to jump out and arrest you.

As I said above...my sister and her kids hugged my mum and dad and didn't social distance and came down with Covid the next day. It was a very anxious 14 days but thankfully they're okay. Not sure if that's a vote for hugging or not but all concerned regretted it.

Mn is a but weird at times. Absolutely no hugging, but ok for your child to go to school in September and sit squeezed in with other kids.

I'm a teacher. I've been in school with children coming in telling me all about who they've visited, who's slept over etc. I've had to be careful when I've seen anyone outside of school in case I've picked up the virus. I've also wanted to make sure I haven't spent time with anyone outside of school without social distancing so as to protect the children I teach, their families and my colleagues.

Once schools are back up to full attendance in September no one is going to stand a chance, especially when so many people disregard the rules.

Restrictions on who we socialise with, and how, are in place so we have been and will be able to educate children and so businesses can open up to save he economy.

Yes exactly. My kids will be at school mixing with other kids, which puts our house at risk of the virus. Hence we will continue to socially distance from our elderly parents and not hug them.
