I’m an idiot. I've taken the test but I don't think I am supposed to until an hour before the postman collects it. Should i put it in fridge or have I just completely messed it up?

@roses2

I wondered what that priority label on my local post box was!
I have checked to see if we have priority mail boxes in my town (thinking we may not as both my tests required me to arrange courier collection). There are 3. 2 of which are INSIDE shops (newsagents with post office counters). There is definitely no outside box at either of these locations. The mind truly boggles.

Yup, told to post here. Kit delivered by Amazon courier but had to go.bsck by post. Posted 12.30 Monday, results by 11am Tuesday (negative as expected) which I thought was pretty good.

People should be driving straight to the post box and straight home and making extra care not to touch the post box (only travelling by foot if no one in the household has access to a car). As long as this advice is followed the risk is no greater than going for a drive through test.

My test was collected by a courier on Monday. No mention of a priority postbox at all.

What happens to those who don't have a car or those who live within a 1 minute walk of their local priority lost box?

But the problem in my locality is the priority boxes ?or at least 2 of them) are INSIDE shops with post office counters. At least one of these shops are so cramped that 1m social distancing would not be achieved. That is both stupid and dangerous.

But nobody in the household is supposed to be leaving the house if one person has symptoms? You're not even allowed out for a walk, even at 5am when the streets are deserted, so why the hell are you allowed to go to a post box an hour before collection time when there could well be quite a lot of people around?

Just checked my local priority boxes and my nearest is a post office counter inside a really small newsagent shop. You can't park directly outside it, but would have to park in a car park and then walk past several other shops (including a supermarket) and lots of people to get to it. And as a PP says once in the shop SD would be impossible.
