I just can’t see how the government will turn around one day and say “that’s it, no masks needed, no social distancing”. I feel like everyone will going to live in fear forever!

If you really can’t work from home then yes the option should still be there to go to an office. But for many of us it has been totally life changing. I’m not talking about furlough, obviously that can’t go on. I’ve been working really hard at home.

We’re not all extroverts. Just because I’m happier working from home doesn’t mean I don’t see my friends outside work. I do and that is enough for me. I still have social contact with people. I skype and zoom now for work meetings and for me that level of interaction works fine. You can still have a laugh in virtual meetings. It’s taken a bit of getting used to but now it feels fine.

Some more extrovert types will want to be back in the hustle and bustle and face to face meetings. But we’re all different. I value the improved work/ life balance hugely. It’s made me happier.

Every day the country is turning into a barren cultural wasteland

That will come back. People still have a need for music and art etc. They are part of every human culture in the world, even primitive ones.

One day we might have a government prepared to do all it can to fight the virus and then it might go away.

These current surrender monkeys haven't even managed to get the infectious disease basic of test trace and isolate in place in seven months.

Until they do normal life is impossible.

I'm worried about the divisions in society between those who can accurately assess the threat and adapt their behaviour to protect society and those who just want to do what they want to do and pounce on any excuse to justify it.

The divisions in society are running far deeper than how people are managing the risk.
That is the very least of our worries in some ways, the economic fall out is yet to come, the divisions between WFH and not will soon surface and worst of all the total absence of education for millions of children that have missed out on six months of teaching will have a far far greater impact on the country both in the short and longer term.

Agree totally.

I've been really busy with my work, more than when in the office due to having no distractions. And it's flexible - if I start a little later then I work a little later. The biggest difference is not having the 1 hour, 3 train commute each way - that has a huge impact on my life. Before, every train at 5, 5.30, 6pm etc was packed, and I mean, you couldn't slip a piece of paper between people! So if I have the chance to continue WFH come September, when I anticipate having to go back to the office, then I'm going to take it. Even if I can do 3 days WFH, 2 days in the office, it'll still mean a huge improvement to my work/life balance.
