Are there any A and E / hospital staff here? What are hospitals actually like at the moment?

So lockdown is easing and we are being led to believe that cases are dropping etc. Is that actually the experience of those on the frontline? We don’t seem to hear any actual stories of those working in the midst of things at the moment. I have no agenda or angle about this at all I’m literally just being nosey.

The cases in Florida got me thinking about this. They’ve gone nuts but I wondered if there was still the same huge amount of hospitalisations per increase in cases or whether somehow the virus is becoming weaker..?!

Interested to hear experiences.

It was the medical secretary who told me they wouldn’t be open for another 2 months. I completely agree waiting lists will be worse than ever, which is why I don’t understand why they are continuing to wait when we’ve been the lowest hit area in the entire country! Surely the longer they keep the clinics closed, the worse the situation!

Oh that’s no good at all, things need to get back to some kind of normality. Our hospital has pulled back all the redeployed staff to their normal job roles and clinics have reopened so hopefully yours will sooner than predicted!

Of course not all GPs are the same but there may be a culture in some surgeries of adopting a least cost/minimally invasive approach . Of course they are guided by nice guidelines and red flag/referral guidelines. More and more i feel that despite paying tax and NI all my life, i will now have to pay for private health screening to be assured that i will be fully checked out. It galls me that the people checking me out are NHS clinicians who theoretically ive already paid for but cant access.
