I do not understand the rules - can we visit my mum?

I've been reading the restrictions and am so confused about the support bubbles and who can meet up etc.

DH has a rare week off later this month. He hardly ever gets more than 2 days off in a row, so to be able to have a full week is amazing. My DM is desperate to see us (but mainly DD!) We wanted to visit my parents for a couple of days so she can see DD but I can't figure out if that's allowed?

Yes that’s fine two households can mix indoors and you can stay overnight

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/07/2020 18:44

You are allowed to visit but you should try and maintain social distancing.

Yetiyoga · 13/07/2020 18:48

Where are you op?

JammyGem · 13/07/2020 18:48

Ok so we can visit and stay overnight but have to stay 2 metres apart wherever possible?

So no nanny hugs Sad

Oh sorry, that's a good point - I'm in England.

I don’t think anyone is clear on what we can and can’t do any more. My mum is 85 and I have seen her all through this because she needed help with shopping, cleaning and human interaction.(She lives alone). We’ve survived fine. Wash hands, keep your distance, sanitise stuff but otherwise yes, visit.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/07/2020 18:50

Technically yes you are supposed to stick to the 2m rule but I'd say just do your own risk assessment. Smile

PatricksRum · 13/07/2020 18:50

You can only have a support bubble where one household is the only adult in that household.
Seeing as you are a couple and your parents are also, then no.

Whitegrenache · 13/07/2020 18:52

My advice for what it's worth is do what feels right for your family

If you want to go and stay with them and have a cuddle then do it.

Make sure you clean hands etc

Life is too bloody short

This is incorrect @PatricksRum
You can stay overnight indoors with one other household but should keep to social distancing.

Yetiyoga · 13/07/2020 18:55

OP I would go. And I would let your 6 year old hug. I saw my parents at the weekend and hugged them. They are in Wales and I am in England. I'm becoming their 'bubble' in Wales terms but I live with other people in England so technically it is not allowed in England. I was desperate to see and hug them.

@Yetiyoga

This is incorrect *@PatricksRum* You can stay overnight indoors with one other household but should keep to social distancing.
Ah. Forever changing!
Yetiyoga · 13/07/2020 19:03

I know! It is ever so confusing. I wish the 4 nations would follow the same rules too!

It changed on the 4th July, when they reopened hotels etc...!
