We are now allowed for go to people's houses where possible wearing the right PPE and giving clients option to wear mask. I have a family at home so won't be bringing clients into my home but I'm worried about going into clients homes and people being very blasé about it all even though I have given proper instructions etc

Not really sure what you are asking us.
We are all in different 'places' as to what we are comfortable with.
If you are worried about going in to people's homes, then don't go, but if you are going in to other people's homes, you can't really dictate what they do.
I have a mobile hairdresser. It isn't for her to "give instructions" to me, IMVHO.
I messaged her, to ask her when she was ready to go back. I let her know we'd not been going anywhere / mixing with people but I totally understood if she wanted to leave it for a while before starting a job that means she has to stand very close to people. It was her decision as to when she was ready.

I think if your worried that your clients are blase then it's not the right time for you to be returning to work to be honest.

My hairdresser came the other day. She said she’s only seeing regular clients who she trusts. It’s a leap of faith I guess. We have complied with all rules at all times and I was comfortable our risk is low, she seemed quite comfortable. I offered to have us sit in the conservatory with all the doors and windows open but she said no and we just stick with masks. If you don’t trust your clients perhaps best to wait a while

How many mobile hairdresser are going for the mask option?

SengaStrawberry · 13/07/2020 00:34

Mine wore a mask

MoreW1ne · 13/07/2020 06:54

Problem is you cant tell someone what to do in their own home, it's not for you to decide what they do.

So I guess its either not the right time for you to return to work if you're that worried or you just have to be prepared to walk away from the customer if you dont like it when you arrive.

Do you have a garden? Not ideal but maybe you could set up in your own garden for a bit until you feel more comfortable.

If people want hairdressers to come to them then I expect they will be keen to comply.

I am a mobile hairdresser and felt the same . I had nightmares in advance of going back but am glad i did. Only doing regular clients though. I wear a visor and tried a mask but sweated up too much so now dobt. I follow all the guidelines telling those i visit how it has to be with written guidance given to them in advance .mentally I feel better working and seeing my clients

Problem is you cant tell someone what to do in their own home, it's not for you to decide what they do.

That's not true, it is irrelevant if it is their home - if they want the service you provide you are well within your rights to say they need to wear a mask for the period that the service is being provided.

If they don't want to do that 'in their own home' then they simply don't have the option of having you in to do their hair

BackforGood · 13/07/2020 12:38

I think it is the language used @FattyBoom.
If my mobile hairdresser had said to me "Yes, I'm starting back, I am asking people to wear masks though" then that's absolutely fine - I, as the customer have absolute choice to say 'Yes, of course, no problem', or not to book a cut.
The issue I have with the OP is her saying even though I have given proper instructions.

Like so many things, it is about communication. Smile

On the writing I said about informing me in advance of the appointment if they have any covid symptoms ( me too) . Paying direct avoiding cash. Hand washing and sanitizer and fully sterilized equipment used . Disposable gowns and towels used . That they have one person only in the room and where possible I would enter the home not via the main entrance. Few more I think too
