DDs stay in hospital and self isolating

DD had to stay a night in hospital with a head injury. Before she was discharged we were told that someone who'd been in the ward the day before, who DD hadn't even crossed paths with, had tested positive and she, her DF who stayed in with her, and her entire household would have to isolate for 14 days.

AIBU to think this is excessive?

Apparently you have to isolate after a stay in hospital anyway. I can't find any information of this, does anyone have a link please?

The guidance is that you have to self-isolate two weeks before you go into hospital for a procedure (obviously not valid if it’s an emergency). Depending on the nature of the procedure, you can be asked to self-isolate for a week after you are discharged.

This link is hospital specific but still useful:

I don’t know, it doesn’t sound that excessive to me...she could have passed it on to other staff working on that same ward.

I presume that the same staff that cared for the positive patient, also cared for your DD. So she could be infected.

I doubt they said it for fun.

From what I understand it’s not that your daughter never crossed paths with the person but the medical staff caring for patients on that ward could have passed it to each patient as they treated each person.
