just wondered whether anyone’s considering this/has already booked and planning to go?

Yep fly end of July, staying somewhere near Malaga. I can't wait Grin

pontiouspilates · 12/07/2020 20:09

Staying with family in The Canaries at the end of the month. We were originally going for Easter.

Saturn50 · 12/07/2020 20:16

Fiend of mine is out there at the minute (Tenerife) and said it is dead with most places closed.

Shakirasma · 12/07/2020 20:48

We are going to majorca on the 29th. Dont mind wearing a mask in public. Does anyone know if reusable cloth masks are ok or do they need to be disposable surgical ones?

HowFastIsTooFast · 12/07/2020 21:01

We're going to Majorca 2 weeks today. I've got a pack of 50 disposable face masks for the 2 of us and have been keeping updated online with what's open and operating. There's a YouTube video posted recently of a British woman doing a drive through Palmanova and pointing out that almost everything is open again, or about to be.

As I understand it at the moment you must wear a mask indoors or any place that you can't be 1.5m from others, which is fine by us. I believe the next review is the day after we get there.

HowFastIsTooFast · 12/07/2020 21:10

Correction : In the Balearics masks must now be worn in public even when distancing can be observed, but with exceptions for beaches, pools, when eating or drinking and when practising sports. Also when playing wind instruments, but it's less likely we'll be doing that 😂

Jenasaurus · 12/07/2020 21:32

So if you go into a restaurant or bar you wear a mask and just remove it to eat or drink or can you not wear one at all in those places?

Uhoh2020 · 12/07/2020 21:49

Going to our holiday home in the Canaries end of August, has been booked since before xmas.

Masks are only required there in shops or on public transport, not needed when walking around or on the beach or pool areas or in restaurants Entertainment such as the usual singing, dancing, karaoke hasnt resumes but tbh it's not what we go for anyway.
Its home from home for us, I'm quite happy for the dc to be on the beach or pool all day and I cook for us each night and spend the evenings on our balcony playing cards or board games, that's normal for us.
Admittedly I'm a bit apprehensive about the journey encouraging the children to keep their masks on most of the time throughout the airport and on the plane.

HowFastIsTooFast · 12/07/2020 22:46

DP has suggested we get a couple of recorders and just play those the whole time since you don't have to wear masks to play wind instruments Hmm

I can't imagine we'd be too popular on the streets of Palmanova though Grin

ZiggeryZaggy · 13/07/2020 13:29

Booked for August. Info I was given is no face masks by pool or on beach, or when eating and drinking if you are outside.

ZiggeryZaggy · 13/07/2020 13:29

That is the canary islands

worzelsnurzel123 · 13/07/2020 13:32

Face masks only required in shops and indoors except if seated to eat or drink. No need outside or at outdoor cafes, bars etc. Shops mostly open. Slightly quieter but not dead. Pretty nice actually and safer than UK.

Sparklytori · 13/07/2020 13:38

Yes going to Tenerife private apartment in a couple of weeks.
Happy to wear masks and taking sanitiser and same precautions as we are here.

crosseyedMary · 13/07/2020 13:48

I had plans to see a relative in the balearics in August but I'm not going, chiefly because going there will involves spending extended periods of time in high transmission zones, ie public transport to get to the airport etc
I'm generally pretty healthy and I'm not old but I'm also not young, I want to avoid getting the virus if at all possible, to me that's more important than holidays

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 13/07/2020 15:03

I should have landed in Majorca this morning but changed to next year. Just not my idea of a good holiday at the moment. Each to their own.

usernotfound0000 · 13/07/2020 15:10

We were looking to book a week in Majorca at the end of August but to be honest, the new rules about face masks has put us off. We will keep an eye on things and might book something last minute if things change.

CuppaZa · 13/07/2020 15:14

We were also booked to go to Mallorca in August, but we’ve rearranged. It’s just not our idea of a holiday in the slightest

transformandriseup · 13/07/2020 15:22

We have been given a list of social distancing rules for our timeshare in Lanzarote, it is basically just wearing a face mask when out of the site and booking a 2hr slot for the pool. And extra cleaning.

Lets hope the British actually wear masks when they go there, or the Spanish will be regretting letting us in.
......
From what I read earlier in the news and heard from someone I know who lives in Spain, they already are!

Catsmother1 · 13/07/2020 16:09

We’re (hopefully) going to Italy. Masks required in a lot of places, but that’s fine with us. Masks might be compulsory in the uk too by then anyway.

timeforawine · 13/07/2020 16:09

Yep off to Majorca mid Aug, can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

timeforawine · 13/07/2020 16:18

I've heard wear masks when in public, can be taken off by the pool/on the beach, put back on to walk to the bar/toilet etc. So not too bad really.
Also take off when seated to eat, put back on to leave?
I've got a box of 50 disposable for the airport/plane for 2 of us and a reusable one for while there. My daughter will be 4 so is exempt but i will try and get her to wear hers at the airport and on the plane.
Our hotel is AI, they ask you book a slot for breakfast/lunch/dinner so they can avoid crowding, bar will be table service, can also take meals away to your room/pool etc if you'd rather.
No booking of slots at the pool

Bluebell1995 · 13/07/2020 16:37

I'm going next month fingers crossed!

Hoping it'll be quieter than usual, and we're going self catering to a small resort so feel we can easily socially distance. Masks not an issue as I am used to wearing them now. We won't need to wear them around the pool and in bars/ restaurants so that's good.

We added pandemic insurance to our policy back in March. My main concerns are getting stuck out there in a local lockdown or having symptoms while away.

I've worked on the front line throughout so feel I have pretty much gotten used to wearing PPE and taking precautions and have drummed it into my family too!

Delatron · 20/07/2020 09:18

We’re off to Menorca end of July. Private villa so definitely my idea of a holiday. We’ll eat in lots and stay by the pool.

I’m mainly looking forward to it to give the kids something to do and get them away from screens. Will be a nice change in scenery. Fine about mask wearing when out and about. Won’t affect the holiday.

Cases over there are low too.

Alex50 · 20/07/2020 09:24

My sons just come back from Tenerife, he had a lovely holiday. Masks have to be worn on the plane and indoor places, you don’t have to wear masks in restaurants or any outdoor spaces, most places were open. They stayed in a lovely Airbnb. It was one of my sons best holidays and he’s been all over the world.
