Public toilets are open where I am. You just need to plan your trip accordingly

Barbthebuilder · 11/07/2020 11:14

Not just those with kids. Lookup 'lockdown loos' , there's a map of open loos.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 11/07/2020 11:15

Toilets are open where I am.

I don't go anywhere without a toilet near by, three kids and a terrible bladder!

Greenbutterlfy566 · 11/07/2020 11:20

Thanks everyone, I'll check to see what's open.

Where we've been they've been shut.

Yes, it's very tricky. There's a lack of public toilets at the best of times but there's really only supermarket ones open where I am.

HaloeVera · 11/07/2020 13:09

I am finding it hard for me!!! Let alone children.

CottonSock · 11/07/2020 13:12

Harder for me than the kids some days.

Comefromaway · 11/07/2020 13:16

My kids are older but I basically only go to places within half an hour of home at the moment.

Yetiyoga · 11/07/2020 13:26

Toilets are beginning to open now. There were real mixed opinions on it but not having anywhere to wash hands wasn't great when people were still going out and about!
I have a bad bladder so throughout lockdown I did a lot of countryside walking where I could wee outside!

TheWindOnTheMoon · 11/07/2020 13:42

So far we've only been going to National Trust properties & other bookable places where there are toilets (or country walks where you can do a wild wee in the woods Grin). DS panics if there's no toilet (& I prefer to have somewhere to go too).

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/07/2020 16:26

Kids are fine, it's me who needs the toilet the most often! Blush

U8myufo · 11/07/2020 17:09

Yes bloody difficult. You don't get all that much notice with a toddler so you can plan your trip however well you want but it's still going to be tricky. Have fortunately got a carry potty for emergencies which is kept in the boot.

FrugiFan · 11/07/2020 18:05

Toilets are open most places here and have been for weeks.

For young kids you could use a potty. You can get disposable liners which absorb the urine, like a nappy, and then go in the bin. Or some people just throw the urine into a hedge and wipe out the potty.

SunbathingDragon · 11/07/2020 18:11

We just have a potty in the boot of the car but we have kept it there (barely used) for years. At least knowing it is there makes journeys less stressful.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/07/2020 18:54

Logistically with school age boys, it's not too bad, but it's going to be a pain to train them back up to have to use random toilets again.
I'm struggling with running. Normally in urban areas I plan routes around toilets in parks. They're still shut. I'm used to going in the countryside where privacy is not an issue, but it's a much greater safety and health concern when in a public park.

shinynewapple2020 · 11/07/2020 20:40

I've got a sensitive bladder so have been concerned about this for myself. Mainly we've been walking in the countryside where I can nip behind a bush, but, TBF when we have been to other places there has been a toilet open. I bought myself a pack of 'travel jane' on recommendation from another thread (it's a little bag of gel stuff to pee into) but I don't know if I'll ever use them. I intended to practice at home before we went out for the day but can't bring myself to do it
