Indoor Gyms, swimming pools and sports facilities will reopen in England from July 25, outdoor pools will reopen from July 11. Outdoor performances of theatre, music and dance can begin again from Monday. Beauticians, tattooists and spas will be able to reopen from Monday.

ListeningQuietly · 09/07/2020 17:49

Outdoor pools from Saturday

Playgrounds were last week but the guidance was shit so its taken a while

torydeathdrug · 09/07/2020 17:50

In England playgrounds should have been reopened on July 4th

CathyandHeathcliff · 09/07/2020 17:50

WAs there any update on soft play centres or playgroups? I guess not.

Orangeblossom78 · 09/07/2020 17:55

No need for masks in the gym apparently.

Thats interesting, our local playground which is right next to a Nursery School has had the swings removed this week and been cordoned off. I think its because it attracts teens smoking weed etc in the evenings and it was pre-lockdown used a lot by the nursery children. They have only a tiny narrow alley for outdoor play now literally just room for a table top sandpit and water play area which is hard for the little ones to understand.

I wish not 25 July; that's a busy day already, quiet day would be easier to get a slot if we have to book.

Playgroups are open I think, or I maybe confusing play group with nursery school what is the difference between those though

Soft play may take longer to open up because they would be hard to ensure any form of social distancing

I wonder about that, ours was already busy with bookings...wonder how they will manage that.

Jenasaurus · 09/07/2020 18:10

The green grant scheme from September the Government is mentioning , do you think you can book to have the work done in September now so you can use the grant? I expect everyone will hold off having work, like insulation, new windows and boilers etc done until September now so they can take advantage of the govenrments grant.

What is the logic about "no overtaking"? this is really a pain. We normally have 5-13 people in a 3m wide lane, so overtaking is normal and part of the design. WFH means I can more easily go at very quiet times, but still could end up with someone in the lane who is much faster or slower than me. Maybe I would just turn around early if the slow person is in front....

Alternatively could there be no lane sessions; then everyone 'overtakes' constantly, anyway.

Or they could switch to max 2 persons in a lane ... but then what in the world would be remotely safer about overtaking only at end lane ends? Maybe max one person per lane is only way to proceed.

Where is the no overtaking stuff?
my pool we do not swim in lanes, we each pick our own track

lljkk · 09/07/2020 18:31

maybe "no overtaking" is just gossip and not actual policy. It's not making sense to me, tbh.

Crunchymum · 09/07/2020 18:34

Wonder how its going to work with swimming lessons? Shock
