Coronavirus uk holiday

We have cancelled our overseas holiday in August due to covid and not wanting to be on a plane, at a busy airport or have a different less relaxing holiday experience.

But we could really do with something to look forward to and wondered about a 4-5 day break in August to look forward to in the UK.

Teen DD fancied camping but I don’t fancy sharing shower/toilet block, washing up facilities and trying to cook, prep picnics in a tent isn’t much of a holiday. So was wondering about maybe a holiday let but then quite worried about how clean things are in terms of mattress, pillows, quilts sofa’s in terms of contacting covid. Also wondering what sort of reception we would encounter from the locals? What do others think?

You could also do glamping, they usually have own bathroom facilities. Book somewhere near a pub and restaurants for food.

When you arrive, you might like to air the place and use spray cleaner on handles and other major touch-points. The virus doesn't live long enough outside the body to cause an issue otherwise. If you want to be super-paranoid then you could book the place for a few days before you go, then it'll be cleaned and any virus long dead by the time you arrive.

Most holiday lets have changed to later check in earlier check out to facilitate additional cleaning between lets. If you contact them they will reassure you as to what is being done with regards to cleaning.

We're going camping and have booked places to eat nearby. We booked it pre covid. I honestly doubt you'll be able to book anywhere decent now though.

I have just had a message from a lovely glamping site we have stayed before and it is absolutely gorgeous but its over £1000 for 7 days. I can’t imagine it will be available for too long but I didn’t want to pay quite as much and I was thinking only 3-5 days as no tv or wifi so the teens could get a bit grumpy.

Haven! They gave some stunning static caravans and lodges now. Many with sea views and decking.

Loads of holiday cottages left and lots of them are doing extra cleaning.

We cancelled our summer holiday abroad last month and booked a glamping short break. 3 nights for £800 but we do have our own kitchen and bathroom in what is basically a fancy wooden lodge in a farmer’s field. They had loads of availability when we booked mid June but are now fully booked for the entire summer.

we've booked a short UK break for August. Just three nights, so that we don't mind if it's just different walks and different takeways! the company we've used are now leaving a full clear day and night between bookings for additional cleaning. I'm sure you could also take your own bedding/towels if that's a concern, although IMO a thorough hot wash is fine. I wonder a bit about whether we'll get a warm welcome but it's an area with a vast amount of countryside walks and a couple of different towns so I'm sure we can keep a low profile if need be.
