Buses

I don’t drive so have had to use public transport throughout but has anyone else noticed the bus drivers not following the rules or making their own ones up? So when it first started and I started using buses the bus driver would only allow one pram on, but recently they’ve all been allowing an extra one on. (I have a baby in a pram) so now they’ve been letting two on and I’ve been on the bus with 2 loads of times when I thought it was meant to be two so I guess the rules changed. But today I went to get on one and was told I wasn’t allowed on as one was on! So what are the rules then as it seems a lot of drivers are not actually following that one, and it’s frustrating when I’ve been on the bus and they’ve let another one on but when I go to get on one I’m not allowed on. Anyone else noticed this about drivers?, also letting more than 20 on etc

Usually with buses with two priority spaces, usual practice is to refuse a second buggy if one is already occupied in case a person in a wheelchair hails the bus.

Drivers usually ask a parent with a buggy to remove the child and fold the buggy if they insist on boarding a bus which is already carrying a buggy in a priority spot, or ask them to wait for the next service.

It's inconvenient, but the reality is most children don't absolutely require to be in a buggy, whereas a person in a wheelchair doesn't normally have the option to fold the wheelchair and walk onto the bus.

I suspect some drives have been a bit lax and using a bit more personal discretion during lockdown simply because most bus companies have been running reduced services, and therefore buses are fewer and further apart, parents with buggies would have to wait longer for another service. I don't think rules have 'changed', it's just an odd time for all, so a bit more bending of them is being exercised.

The buses here only allow 11 people on. I wonder when that will be relaxed?

XDownwiththissortofthingX where do you live? as that’s not the case in London, they always allow 2 on but because of corona virus they started only allowing one on, nothing to do with wheelchair users. But seems some drivers follow that and some are not! Very frustrating.
