Feel unwell, looking for advice

I've been feeling really under the weather and low low energy now for 3 or 4 days. My chest is really heavy and I feel that way when you have a cold or sinus infection coming on though nothing seems to be materialising and no cough or temperature. Also had an upset stomach. I've not been anywhere apart from the shops once a week. When I've checked the NHS site because I don't have a cough it seems to think it's okay but I'm starting to worry a bit. Do you always have a cough with it? I'm not sure if I should stay at home and isolate now just incase. Can wfh so wouldn't be an issue. I feel like I'm being ridiculously paranoid and maybe a bit daft but because it's not really cold season I feel quite anxious about it. Any advice really appreciated.

allergies? They can start at any time in life.

Theforest · 05/07/2020 16:53

You can get a test if you are worried. Someone on another thread did without actually having the big 3 symptoms, but some of the apparent lesser ones and they were positive.

magicmallow · 05/07/2020 16:54

order a free test online, it gets dropped off and collected and results in a couple of days

DelphiniumBlue · 05/07/2020 16:56

You're not daft or paranoid.
My whole family have had it, and none of us had a cough. One of us had a slight temperature. Most of us had an upset stomach and some of us had taste and smell affected ( not straightaway though). All of us felt lethargic, some mildly for a few days, me extremely so for 3 weeks+.
Make sure you've got paracetomol and easy food in stock - you might not feel like eating much but bananas ,yogurt and biscuits were all I could eat for days! Drink plenty of water, take vitamins, and make sure you are prepared.

Mustbetimeforachange · 05/07/2020 16:58

Yes, a friend has what is most likely norovirus, but as he said he had a very slight fever they sent him a kit. No cough etc. Mind you it took 2 days to arrive, arrived 7pm Saturday with no post until Monday, by which time is will be 5 days since his symptoms started anyway so probably too late if it had been Covid!

WhitbyGoth · 05/07/2020 16:58

Best to ring 111 OP, they can help you more so than us on here. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

StrawberryJam200 · 05/07/2020 17:01

If you're going to get tested (online or drive through) do it quickly as it's less likely to be accurate after 5 days of symptoms. Prof Tim Spector's Covid Symptom Tracker app recommends anyone isolate if they think there's a possibility they have it. In fact if you use that (you could download today!) they'll make a test spot available for you anyway with those symptoms. They have a list of 19 I think.

Bmidreams · 05/07/2020 17:03

It's much more efficient to go to a testing site if you can get to one.

amber763 · 05/07/2020 17:09

Urgh I don't drive but I am going to call 111 just now. Thank you ladies. Felt like I was being stupid

I don't think 111 will do anything unless you want to be seen by someone. You can order a home test online.

FurForksSake · 05/07/2020 17:20

www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or 119 and book a test, stay isolated until you know.

NCsonoOuting · 05/07/2020 17:20

There's no need and no point to calling 111 OP.

amber763 · 05/07/2020 18:11

I ordered one. Thanks so much

I hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself. The test is not very nice. You'll have to post it in a priority post box an hour before collection.

BBCONEANDTWO · 05/07/2020 19:14

Make sure you put the thing right down into your throat and right up your nose and make sure you have it down your throat for at least 20 seconds. (Really when it's down your throat you should feel like gagging and up your nose your eyes should be watering).

Notasyoungasiwas · 05/07/2020 19:35

I have tested positive for coronavirus twice - sickness and diarrhoea were my main symptoms. Order a home test.

@Notasyoungasiwas - dear you've been through it - if you don't mind me asking what job do you do? Are you in a factory - flipping heck twice!

Notasyoungasiwas · 18/07/2020 08:38

I work in a preschool. The first time I tested positive we were still in lockdown. As the second positive result was within 60 days of the first PHE advised that it did not have be treated as a 'new' case so we didn't have to close the setting. I had to isolate for seven days

raviolidreaming · 18/07/2020 09:31

Make sure you put the thing right down into your throat ... have it down your throat for at least 20 seconds

These aren't the instructions though? The instructions on every test kit I've seen say to swab tonsils, or where they would have been if you don't have any, for 10 seconds.

lifesalongsong · 18/07/2020 09:33

I was going to say get a test until I saw that you posted this two weeks ago Grin

Did you get the test @amber763 what was the result?
