Wondering how it went?

I went this morning for my colour. Hairdresser wore visor and gloves, masks were optional for customers, disposable gowns, scissors and combs sprayed with disinfectant between customers and chair wiped down with antibac wipes.

Overall I felt comfortable, my only concern was that there wasn’t a 2m gap between chairs but obviously everyone was facing in the same direction. They have removed spinning chairs too I noticed.

Yep went this morning. It was weird, certainly a lot more functional than usual, no sitting with a magazine or a cup of tea - disposable mask, disposable gown and disposable towel. Everyone else in gloves /masks/visors. Wait outside until called in, sanitise hands gown yourself up and away you go.

Had a cut and colour today. Stylist was wearing a visor. Only two customers/stylists in the shop at any one time (it's quite a small space). Queues outside before being brought in, was offered gloves and a mask if I wanted them but I declined. Lots of cleaning of the chairs, surfaces, brushes etc during my visit. Very happy to have no roots and about 2 inches less hair to be wrangle with on a morning since I got home!

I want to see before/after pics

I went in today and it was lovely. Some of the chairs had been removed to create space and only 3 customers in at any time. All customers given their own bag with disposable gown, towel and optional mask. The hairdressers wore visors and there were floor markings. No coffee or magazines and music on low. It was still a lovely, relaxed and friendly experience and felt very low risk.

DH has an appointment on Thursday and I'm going next Saturday if I can get used to a mask by then. We walked past the salon today and the stylists were wearing masks but no visors and the customers were wearing masks.

I went today. The stylists all wore masks or visors and were washing their hands or using gel every time they changed tasks. My hairdresser pumps my chair up so his head is roughly level with mine, so the visor was fine. The chairs were well spaced and the door was open so it was well ventilated.

I was given a bag to put my jacket in, hands squirted with gel, a mask and a disposible gown, which tried to take off when my hair was blow dried. The person who washed my hair towel dried it then took the towel away. I had to take my mask off quite a lot so the stylist could get at the bits round my ears. We didn't talk much, which was a pity as I've been going there for years and really like the staff.

I usually get a discount but they were very apologetic and said they just couldn't afford the discounts at present. But it wasn't much more than usual and I was expecting it to be worse. They're all lovely and I want to see the business thrive. They have another branch which they just couldn't open.

I was due a cut just as lockdown happened so I'm really happy to have had the mop tamed.

Yes. I had a full head of highlights and cut and blow dry. I wore my mask and so did the hairdresser. I was well away from other customers although lots of staff walked past me. I felt safe and managed to keep my mask on for 3 hours so I was pleased.
I’d forgotten what I looked like with nice hair.

cptartapp · 05/07/2020 07:45

winged I thought that too, I have the antibodies so am well prepared to take the risk, but apart from the hand gel about there was absolutely no difference in the usual procedures. Not a back street salon either.

Got another two weeks to wait! 😢

DH and DS1 went to the barbers yesterday. They had to wear masks and barber wore PPE. Hand sanitiser before they entered. Prices had gone up by about 25% I’d say.

I am going today. I have been told:

  • no drinks will be served but it is fine to bring your own
  • no magazines, but again it’s fine to bring your own
  • take your coat off on entering and put it in a bag
  • wear a mask

I am expecting prices to have gone up to pay for the PPE measures (sanitising, extra cleaning, visors, screens and managing of appointments). And also to try and recoup some of the money that they’ve not made due to being closed. It’s a pricey salon - £90 normally for an all over permanent colour, cut and blow dry, and I’m expecting to pay £100+. Yikes.

My mobile hairdresser came yesterday, I was really impressed. She had full PPE on, I wore a mask too. She had a clean and 'dirty' bag to put used equipment in. I antibacced everywhere before and after, so felt in control of the environment and had the back door open during for ventilation.

It was so nice to get it done.

coronabeer23 · 05/07/2020 09:38

Yes. Temperature taken before I was allowed in, had to fill out a form with all my personal details. All staff in visors, partitioning between each chair and each basin. Disposable gowns and towels. I don’t think they could have been better prepared if they tried. It was full and fully booked for weeks
