Such a relief as ds is year 10 and I think will just about be OK with GCSEs if back in September. Felt good to see it officially written down instead of just talked about on the radio.

That’s brilliant! Hopefully you can both enjoy the summer without worrying about September now :)

Woodlandtree · 03/07/2020 17:54

We had a letter too. It was very basic and just stayed that the government announced schools would be open in September, provided a link to the guidelines in the gov site and the head have her email for questions.

mostwonderfultime · 03/07/2020 18:35

I found it reassuring. Half expected to hear that they would be attempting to get all children back full time so nice to have them definitively stating that they will.

noblegiraffe · 03/07/2020 18:55

Heads aren’t allowed to say anything else.

littlepeas · 03/07/2020 19:00

We’ve had a very detailed letter about plans - private school, but they follow government guidelines.

Natalie654321 · 03/07/2020 19:21

Well they might not open if there is another peak/ Covid cases increase

SandieCheeks · 03/07/2020 19:26

Our school has said plan A is current govt. guidance of all children back full time, but if the situation changes they also have a plan B of 50% attendance.
They sent out a very detailed survey about exactly what technology children have available at home too.

Bol87 · 03/07/2020 19:30

Op- woah betide you should feel happy your child can return to education.. 😉

BlessYourCottonSocks · 03/07/2020 19:31

Agree with noble. You do need to realise that this is the govt plan, and is subject to change if necessary.

Who knows what will be going on in another 8 weeks time...

FedHimtoTigers1990 · 03/07/2020 19:47

Same here.
Plan A full time.
Plan B is 2 days per week
Plan C 1 day.

Also details of the days my DD will be in if Plan A doesn't happen.
She cannot wait.

BlusteryLake · 03/07/2020 19:48

It's such a relief to see that this is the direction of travel. Our school has also set out Plan B, and sent specifications for the laptop we should buy in the event of remote live lesson delivery. It feels so much more reassuring that education will be delivered in September. This is a state secondary and I am impressed by how far they have come since March. Even if we do have temporary closures, hopefully we have had time to adapt a bit.

darkcaramel · 03/07/2020 19:49

Haha love how people turn up to piss on OPs bonfire

Pasghetti · 03/07/2020 19:54

I think the most important thing is for parents and pupils to be prepared psychologically for the inevitable mini lockdowns of schools that will come in waves. I have several friends who are teachers and all are preparing for blended learning alongside classroom based learning. 'Hope for the best, prepare for the worst' seems to be the motto but with the full expectation that the worst will happen. As one friend put it, 'You only have to see how fast a typical winter stomach bug sweeps through the classes and the staffroom!'

Pasghetti · 03/07/2020 19:55

And my post is not about pissing on the OP's bonfire (colourful) but about reminding people to think about backup plans. My own DC's school are saying back full time but I'll still be anticipating periods of closure.

darkcaramel · 03/07/2020 19:57

I don’t think so, to be honest. Possibly if there are a lot of local cases in one school. But I really don’t think there will be months of closures again.

ohthegoats · 03/07/2020 20:01

It's not pissing on bonfires, it's like the op said 'just had an email to say I can go to the pub tomorrow'. It's literally what the government said. I dunno, the smile makes it goady.

Pasghetti · 03/07/2020 20:02

No I don't months either. I think there will be short term closures of a week to a fortnight several times throughout the winter, which in some ways will be more disruptive to pupils and parents. That's why I'm trying to lay some contingency plans now and prepare DCs that they won't necessarily be returning to business as usual.

darkcaramel · 03/07/2020 20:03

Of course it’s not goady! Bloody hell, I’m pleased, and I’m the teacher Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 20:20

Yes we had one too OP also saying how happy they are about it

Will have uniforms
Will have dinners in the canteen
Will have a full curriculum
Will be starting after school clubs too

also another from primary (but they will be leaving there) similarly happy and they have been doing meet the teacher sessions too.

Orangeblossom78 · 03/07/2020 20:21

Also they wrote from the trust the day before to say they hoped it would be full time / normal as well.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 03/07/2020 22:04

specification for the laptop we should buy

blimey! I can see a lot of parents raging at that one. I couldn't afford to buy a laptop, I know. And many other parents are in that position.

HelloDulling · 03/07/2020 22:06

OP, have they said they will be open for all for full time school, or just open?

TabbyMumz · 04/07/2020 07:29

"blimey! I can see a lot of parents raging at that one. I couldn't afford to buy a laptop, I know. And many other parents are in that position."
You can get one for a couple of hundred quid these days. People spend more than that on a couple of nights out and fags for a few weeks

darkcaramel · 04/07/2020 07:35

Not got the highest opinions of parents have you tabby.?

MNnicknameforCVthreads · 04/07/2020 07:49

Agree with PPs, this is nothing worth posting about - it’s what’s planned for every school.
