Family abroad...

Most of my family are in Italy and we’d normally be getting ready to go and visit for summer. I’ve made peace with the fact we’re not going this year (first year ever!) but I’ve hit a bit of a wall this week and can’t imagine ever being able to go again without worrying about catching / passing anything on 😫

I know no one can tell me when it will be “safe” enough but does anyone else have family abroad and feeling the same? DH is very calm about everything and thinks next year will be different, same with my parents, but I’m longing to hear from someone else in the same situation

Same for me. My family are in Ireland and no idea when I will be able to visit. Currently there is a 14 quarintine for anyone coming in, which would be difficult to arrange and hard to manage for work.

And apart from that, they are doing really well now after a very difficult time and I hope for the good of the country they keep the quarintine and stay safe. I would hate to bring it over, my mum is over 70 with heart issues. But does mean I dont know when I will see them. I actually had a flight booked today as its mums birthday on Sunday.

This is the third trip I have cancelled since March. Its really really hard.

Sorry to hear you’ll be missing your mums birthday 😔

Italy are doing quite well now too but I’m unsure if they have the 14 days quarantine in place. It would be really hard for us to do that too as there’s so many people to visit and see. It’s all so gutting, I was so looking forward to taking my 2 year old this year as he would have loved to play with his cousins and explore our house over there and eat loads of ice cream. Fingers crossed we can visit next year. 💓

Yes my Mums in France, she's 76, widowed and with not much of a local support network. Seeing each other is tricky enough normally. I'm feeling very blah about it all.

Oh what a shame for you :( it is a very blah situation, you’re right 😣

My sister is in Australia.

We visited for 3 weeks in January, her adult children and grandchildren were meant to go in August and now obviously can't and she can't come here.

My Dad is 82 and said he doesn't think he will see her again Sad

Shes been there 15 years, we've always said the world is small you can jump on a plane and be together in 24 hours but now the world is a different place..

Sending supportive vibes to other geographically separated families Flowers

Thats heartbreaking to read ☹️

I’m holding onto the hope that maybe next year things will have improved drastically and we’ll be able to be with our families again x
