Does she need to self isolate? Please help

Grandparent is in hospital with confirmed Covid. He will not be ventilated and it's awful. However my mum went to look after my nana after he went to hospital as she has dementia. My mum has been in their house where he was living with Covid, but she hasn't seen him. Does she need to self isolate?

Yes I think so. Presumably your nana could have it or has at least been exposed to it. So your mum needs to self isolate or at least stay there with your nana for two weeks.

I would say so on the basis that your grandmother may also have it. They could isolated together for 2 weeks?

Hi, sorry to hear this, it sounds worrying.

This page says who needs to isolate: www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/when-to-self-isolate-and-what-to-do/

Is your nana getting a test?

ItsLeviooosar · 02/07/2020 05:34

Nana is getting a test today. About 4 weeks ago she was in hospital with a bit of a sore throat, and heart issues but wasn't tested for Covid and sent home after a week. So she could have given it to him.

I went to see my mum on Tuesday and then my grandad got sick and she left to go and be with my Nana. I have her dog, I'm going home today. As I haven't seen him or anyone since he got sick I can go home. But if I drop him in the back garden then they don't have to come into contact with me. God this is awful.

He's in his 80s but it was still horrific to hear they won't be ventilating him, I know exactly why he's too sick for it they'd never get him
Off, I'm an icu nurse it's just so sad and shitty. They didn't want to tell my mum that he'd tested +ve at first, which Is a bit weird. The consultant says he's a very poorly man

I felt like such a dick yesterday telling my mum that she needs to prepare for a phone call.

So sorry for your grandad, take good care of yourself. It's probably best for your nana and your mum to be together at the moment anyway.
