Has anyone had the symptom of (a) sure breast(s) after Covid19

Has anyone had sore breasts/a sore breast as a symptom after suspected or diagnosed Covid 19? I am awaiting a Gp phone all appointment. I have one very sore breast, I think and not my chest but I am not too sure, since suspected Covid 19 in late March/April. I had a confirmed bacterial chest infection but no COVID-19 test.

Symptoms were high temperature for 5-6 days, a horrible cough and then a Bacterial chest infection diagnosed by a lab test.
I stopped breast feeding 2 months before this.

Am also shielding so am worried if it is a problem that I have left it two months also Sad

My Uncles Girlfriend works in a hospital and tested +ve for COVID, her main symptom was 'sore breasts' randomly, along with
mild cold symptoms. She recovered totally in a few weeks. As far as I'm aware the soreness didn't persist so it's probably something else. Definitely worth getting looked at.

Wow, that’s so weird, I tested positive for covid at the beginning of May. For the last month I’ve had a pain in my left breast. It’s a weird pain and not there all the time. When it comes it’s like a burning stabbing pain, reminds me of when I had mastitis.
It was incredibly painful.

I thought it was probably Cyclical and hormonal and it seems to have gone for now. I’ve never had it before Covid.

mostwonderfultime · 02/07/2020 07:44

It probably is cyclical. I get it too and have not had/got Covid.

Thanks @saywhay for reply. I am awaiting a Gp To phone me having spoken with reception. The fact it is only one side and no better is concerning me now.

Thatsnotsnowy yes that sounds just like my pain. And yes reminding me of early stages of mastitis which I have had in the past. Unfortunately mine has returned or not gone. How long did yours last?

@mostwonderfultime is your both sides or just one? Had not heard of cyclical pain so that was worth reading up about. Am on day 10 of my cycle, yesterday was the worst pain.

Thanks for replies. Hoping for a helpful Dr today.

I was thinking about this just yesterday! I have had pain in my left breast for the last couple of months related to my menstrual cycle. I have always had some but it has gotten a lot worse the last couple of cycles. I suspect I might have had a very mild case of Covid in March (I will test for antibodies but I want the price to come down frist!). As I am in my mid-forties, I have been thinking it is probably a pre-menopause thing, but I guess it could be Covid-related?

Cloudburstagain · 02/07/2020 11:43

@sonjadog I think a reliable antibody test might help me. Had symptoms in March but no test. A Dr said I may have had it as the bacterial infection that was diagnosed apparently is something they saw in hospitals - secondary infections. Am wondering if I am peri-menopausal too as periods are much longer, or with spotting at the end - changes I have not had until the past hear. Smear clear. Gp said they did not do blood tests for menopause anymore.

Hope you get some answers @sonjadog

Potentially ACE2 related. Similar seen in male reproductive system incl testicular swelling.

It isn't addressed in this linked study, but it's touched on, i.e. ACE2 is found in breast tissue.

"Additionally, the Human Protein Atlas and GeneCards database showed the presence ofACE2in female breasts."

Oh, that's interesting. When I was thinking about this yesterday, Covid occured to me because my left lung was the one that was sorest the longest in March and it is the left breast that is sore now, but then I thought "Nah, surely that can't be". But maybe it is. If it is, hopefully that means it will go away quicker than if it is menopause related!

Hope you feel better soon too, Cloudburst.

Cloudburstagain · 02/07/2020 13:27

Interesting, thanks. Wonder what treatment or if serious problems then.

Mine lasted about three weeks. I haven’t noticed it recently but I’ll be interested to see if it comes back before my next period. I’ve never had it before but it was definitely a similar pain to mastitis but very localised and only in the left breast.

It was excruciating when it came on and felt as though the pain was coming from quite deep inside Am mid forties too so thought maybe it was menopause related. I’ll definitely be monitoring when it comes and goes.
Hope everyone feels better soon.

Very odd. I had what Im pretty convinced was covid in March and a few weeks ago I had horrible stabbing pains in my breasts. Actually woke me from sleep a few times. Lasted about a week then went away Confused

Thatsnotsnowy · 02/07/2020 16:52

Mine were stabbing pains too. A very distinct and unusual pain, not like normal all over tenderness that is usually hormonal.

Cloudburstagain · 02/07/2020 17:31

Not good, referral.
Now really feeling bad that I have left this 9 weeks or so.

Told to take ibuprofen maximum dose as an anti inflammatory until seen, which should be in 2 weeks as under 2 week pathway. Or will be tomorrow.

Have you had your referral appointment? I’m having similar symptoms after Covid

herecomesthsun · 01/09/2021 16:39

Very interesting. I may have had covid initially (not tested) in March 2020.

I had stabbing pains in my nipples all through lockdown and eventually discussed it with my GP last autumn. He did the full hospital referral for a mammogram thing (clear).

Poor mums being advised to breastfeed in masks, and poor liitle babies.

herecomesthsun · 01/09/2021 16:51

I also couldn't smell the bitter spray used in fitting masks at work, couldn't smell my daughter's perfume factory concoctions, made chicken curry soup so spicy that no one else in the family could eat it (it seemed tasteless so I put in a load of spice) and had sore weeping eyes for weeks. All when loss of smell & taste & sore eyes weren't symptoms.
