How long does the virus live on fabric for?

I took in some ironing to do for a lady who said when I picked it up, she’d been to a certain city to get her nails and hair done by some kind of underground beauty place. She’s not taking any precautions as ‘she believes her immune system is good’
I felt like dumping her ironing and leaving it but I do need the money. I’ve kept it in the car since I picked it up as I don’t know how likely it would be to catch something from it! Does anyone know roughly how long it would survive on fabric/clothes?

This website suggests no longer than two days - though the research is still ongoing.

Can you let her know that her ironing will take two days longer than usual as you will have to 'quarantine' it for 48 hours?

Thank you, I couldn’t find any info anywhere! Yes I’ve told her it’ll be a bit longer due to leaving it to make sure it’s safe which of course she thinks is ridiculous but there we go.

If she thinks it's ridiculous, she won't mind if you cough all over it just before you hand it back?

Normally I think the quarantiners are being ridiculous, but that's based on people generally following the other rules, not blatantly ignoring them by using businesses that are operating illegally, because that's how the virus continues to spread, especially if this 'underground beauty place' is one of those that is run by people in slave like conditions, breaking all manner of immigration, health and safety and employment laws.

I agree, it’s made me really angry that she takes this attitude. Sod everyone who doesn’t have a good immune system, as long as she can carry on as she likes she’s happy

An iron's a pretty good way to kill anything lurking on a textile.

There's a difference between traces being found over time and the virus being in sufficient quality and quantity to be able to overwhelm a healthy immune system.
Wash hands frequently and avoid touching your face.
