Just wondering what is happening with regard to cancelled operations, appointments etc. now. Hospitals must be very quiet if not.

DH's pre-op checks were cancelled at the start of lockdown, so we need those to be re-scheduled before they'll give him an operation date. Duration since going to GP with initial problem -14 months and counting.

Mine appears to be. Both myself and my husband have had appointment letters come through

I have an op booked for Monday. They were very clear about the risks involved and left it up to me to decide.

Some depts are doing telephone consults now and in my area they are starting daypatient surgery, I was given the option of come in within a couple of weeks or defer for months/years because of the backlog!

I had my normally regular but cancelled since Covid, kidney scan yesterday, and as a patient the hospital felt far from normal. The plastic sheeting sectioning off all the waiting areas made it feel pretty scary tbh, but the scanning area was very quiet as they can’t do as many scans and apparently most people are refusing appointments. My scan was very different to usual as I was given extra meds to speed up the waiting time between the injection and scan, so my time in hospital would be reduced . I was quite unwell for the rest of the day - hope it’s normal next time!

It felt very safe and well organised, but I dread to think how long the backlogs will be if this is getting back to normal.
