Public transport for leisure in England

Yes or no to going on a UK holiday by train / bus / ferry?

I think we will lose our deposit if we pull out, so are we simply disinclined to travel, or is it because there's clear guidance that says we shouldn't (might be able to claim on insurance)? If it exists, where's that guidance? All I can see is encouragement to consider all other options first.

We don't have a car and we are going go start using transport for leisure soon. Since this all kicked off, as a family we've only used transport for leisure once. A couple of weeks ago we took a bus to meet a friend.

We've booked a holiday for Aug and will be taking the train. I'm going to start taking public transport to visit friends.

What's your family? We've got two adults and then DC aged 2 and 7, and I'm not sure public transport with masks etc is going to be fun. Plus we were going to bus it around while on holiday - the flat we've booked is next to the bus station Confused.

We don't have a car and have not used public transport since 20th March. We are beginning to go stir crazy stuck at home or just going going for a walk in the local area. I think we will start venturing further a field now that everything is opening up. We will try and avoid travelling during peak times.

My understanding is that it's only guidance that we shouldn't use public transport and I think that was implemented really to cover commuting in and around large conurbations.
I haven't yet used public transport but I am going to start because it is not really sustainable or possible for everyone to drive everywhere . Masks are probably do-able for many kids (assuming no Sen or other issue) as long as it's just explained calmly that it's the rules. Lack of toilets might be a difficulty but I'm not sure what's open and what isn't.

I've started using public transport again in the past week. We don't have a car, and we live in London. We've gone to the zoo, and larger parks for walks. It's been very quiet - I've travelled off-peak, and had a row of seats to myself and DD on the tube. We've got a holiday booked in July (booked last year) and we've booked train tickets to travel (no driver in the family). I'm expecting it to be very quiet.

The govt guidance on masks says under 3s shouldn't wear them (it's not safe for them), but 3-11 year olds have the option, but aren't required to wear them. I have my 2yo with me and she doesn't wear one. I wear one (I could opt not to as I'm disabled), but it's not comfortable and I pull it off as soon as I get out the station.
