Better check your travel insurance if you are thinking about jetting off anywhere . If you don't already have one then I see that they are selling new insurance which covers Covid.

AXA were covering COVID medical claims although not COVID cancellations

Thing is travel insurance has to sell COVID related cover (for a price obvs!) otherwise no one would travel and industry would collapse

StaySure and Post Office are two that are covering now.

I’ve been wondering this, we want to go on a road trip around France in August, I’m shielded though and worried it will have an impact on my ability to get insurance now.

It won't - you'll just have to declare your medical conditions, as you always would have (should have!) been doing.

Check CAREFULLY the terms and conditions of policies everyone, a lot are now covering cancellation if you get CV but will not cover if the government/FCO advice rules against travel.

@Flippetydip. I’ll give the insurance company a call next week, I’m still waiting for my letter (the second one for the extension) but a few people on the fb groups I’m on have had deshielded letters instead today so my situation may change. I update my insurance every year, no way would I risk travelling without it!

Also keep a close eye on the FCO advice. Practically no insurers will cover travel when the FCO advise against it and the advice could change from time to time in response to outbreaks.

Martin Lewis did a summary of insurers covering for covid in his newsletter this week.
