Hasn't in only gone up in the ares around the meat processing plant thats had hundreds of cases?

bolderbaking · 21/06/2020 19:12

If you read the full update by the RKI, you will see that this is a pretty meaningless figures. Germany has pretty low numbers these days and therefore, the few very localised outbreaks bring up the R-rate. doesn't mean that the rate is rising everywhere. far from it. You need to read the full news before you panic Hmm

Deblou43 · 21/06/2020 19:17

Sorry it sounded panicky I wasn't panicking !!! Just a tad anxious x

It's localised outbreak/s with local lockdown to contain it.

Assuming they spotted it in time, and broke transmission chain promptly and effectively, it shouldn't become a sustained and spreading pattern.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/06/2020 19:29

It's been heavily discusse in the 'breaking news' thread.
The daily update of the RKI gives you all the information.
www.rki.de/DE/Content/InfAZ/N/Neuartiges_Coronavirus/Fallzahlen.html scroll down to the end of the page for the English download.
The worst case was in a meant processing plant - potential hot spots everywhere in Europe - and the area the workers and their family live in. The thread mentioned has a worker in such a plant explaining the problem - you basically have to put your faces close together to communicate at all.

The Berlin outbreak is in my quarter and localized to a congregation - they were probably singing.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/06/2020 19:35

meat - of course

CKBJ · 21/06/2020 19:46

Sky news say large outbreak in meat factory but also outbreaks in hospitals, care homes, asylum seekers, refugees, those harvesting crops and religious and family gatherings adding to the increase in R to 2.88.

PatriciaHolm · 21/06/2020 19:57

Quote from the daily news bulletin from RKI, who calculate the R -

"Estimates of the reproduction numbers (R-value and 7-day R-value) were between 2 and 3 during the last few days. This is mainly related to local outbreaks which are described above, the outbreak in North Rhine-Westphalia playing a particularly important role in this context . Since case numbers in Germany are generally low, these local outbreaks have a relatively strong influence on the value of the

reproduction number. Further developments need to be monitored closely during the upcoming days, especially in regard to whether case numbers are increasing outside of outbreak contexts. "

Of the 687 new cases in the daily bulletin, 549 (and a total over 1,000) are due to an outbreak in a meat processing plant. 71 (and a total of 85) are linked to members of a religious community in Berlin.

So - at present, the variance is due to specific and identified outbreaks.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 21/06/2020 20:04

Patricia you beat me to it.

efeslight · 21/06/2020 20:15

I am in Nordrhein-Westfalen and we are not worried at the moment. In Shops, buses trams etc a mask has to be worn and no one breaks these rules. The tracking system seems to be very effective and hopefully will contain these outbreaks to the local area.

efeslight · 21/06/2020 20:16

And there is disinfectant as you go into shops, hairdressers etc.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-53131941☹️
Police reinforcements have been sent to maintain a coronavirus quarantine on a tower block in the German city of Goettingen after violence on Saturday
Seven-hundred people were placed in quarantine, but 200 trying to get out clashed with police.
Residents attacked police with fireworks, bottles and metal bars, officials said.
The quarantine was introduced on Thursday after two residents tested positive.
By Friday, 120 were found to be infected. The vast majority of residents have been complying with the quarantine.
Anyone testing negative is being required to have a further test. If that is negative, they will be allowed to leave the block, but under certain conditions, such as wearing a mask.
Local officials cited communication problems, with many of the residents not understanding the need for a second test.
