Quick question - Dd and temperature

MissCowell · 15/06/2020 10:50

Dd attends school while I work (keyworker) this morning they wouldn't let her in as they said she had a temperature. For the past couple of hours her temp had been fine.

Do I need to get her tested? No other symptoms and not even a temperature now

Tried looking on line and can't see anything

What was her temperature then? How did they check it?

MissCowell · 15/06/2020 11:02

It was 37.5 when school tested

It's been between 36.5-37 when I have taken

I think you can get her tested if she's had a fever - if negative then she can go back to school.

If you don't get her tested I expect school won't let her back for 7days.

How old is she?

That isn’t even a high temperature for a child...

I just feel a bit of a fraud when I know how busy 111 is.

She is 7; been fine all weekend and since she got home from school.

Thanks for that @PurpleDaisies
I think school are just being over cautious. I'll see how she goes this afternoon but I've had no cause for concern all weekend and even this morning getting ready for school. Been her normal self.

Exactly! My child nearly always sits between 37 and 37.5 Shock

cinammonbuns · 15/06/2020 12:29

That doesn’t seem like a high fever according to the NHS. I would call the school and ask them for their cut offs as it would be unfair to kids who have a higher average body temperature to be sent home when they are not sick.

ThinkPinkStink · 15/06/2020 12:34

Did she scoot to school? Silly question, but my DC have been reading a little high on the first temperature reading when they arrive due to their helmets + scooting.

dementedpixie · 15/06/2020 12:35

I thought it was 37.8⁰C and above for covid 19. Also how did they take the temperature? Forehead temperature doesn't give an accurate indication of core temperature

jessy2018 · 15/06/2020 13:02

I had a temp of 37.9 last week with no other symptoms. I booked a drive in test for the next morning, did the test, got a negative result within 48 hours and got on with my life as normal (well - new normal!) The tests are pretty readily available now so I’d just get it done rather than be wondering.

Bol87 · 15/06/2020 14:02

@MissCowell - you don’t need to ring 111. Anyone can get a test now. Just go into the govmt website & book one! Or get one sent to your house!

I got one at the weekend for none classic symptoms. They don’t ask any questions.. it says so ‘do you have any of these 3 (cough, temp, loss of smell/taste)’, I said no and it still let me through the website & to book a test. You may as well or she can’t go back to school for 7 days.. I went onto the website at 8am on Sat, booked a drive through for 10.45am, was there 10 mins max & got my results by 11pm that night. Just over 12 hours!
