All of the 'influencers' I see on SM are all SO excited to go shopping tomorrow/this week....

So who on MN will be going to all of the none essential shops!?

Yes we're going to Clarks in the afternoon - I've pre-booked a measuring slot for the kids. Couldn't get one of the measuring gizmos online (not paying the cheeky feckers on eBay stupid money for one). Other than that, won't be shopping anywhere else.

I really do need to go to a clothes shop - DS has massively out-grown out of his clothes but I can't buy him stuff online cos he's SO sensitive to the feel of fabrics, seams, labels etc. I have to see and feel clothes to check he'll wear them Sad

But not going shopping until I know things have quietened down and hopefully it will be a quick dash to just one shop!

Nope. Always try to get most stuff online as live in very tourist oriented town so not many normal shops anyway and it’s usually cheaper and I don’t have to pay to park/drag kids around pressuring me to buy them snacks etc

Corona has changed how I shop, used to pop all over different supermarkets most days getting different bits and pieces but pretty much sticking to one supermarket and only going every 7-10days now
Found we’re spending less and no need to pop to others just for the hell of it. Will be shopping as infrequently as possible for the rest of this year, probably into next year too. Makes sense for us to minimise the risk.

I have to go food shopping for my parents tomorrow (who are shielding) as it's the usual time to go, as I'm already there I will brave Card Factory for some Father's Day cards if it's open and not too horrendously busy.

TheGreatWave · 14/06/2020 22:51

No - even if I wasn't working I wouldn't.

The one way systems, queuing, no cafes, no toilets, no browsing made it sound bad enough, but now I have found out that council officials will be zapping people with temperature radar things - no way do I want to be endorsing my acceptance of this.

I went to my smaller local shopping centre yesterday for some last bits I needed, and will be continuing to use my local set of shops where there is a 'butcher, baker and candlestick maker' in the meantime.

JustVisiting9 · 15/06/2020 08:47

I am planning to give it a few days at least. There are a few things I need that I'd rather buy from a real shop than online, but I'm not desperate so will let the queues die down first.

I'll try to use the market town rather than the shopping centre - so that I can queue outdoors if necessary, and hopefully support some of the smaller shops that really need it.

As much as I would love a potter around the shops, it just doesn't appeal queuing, social distancing, being patient, lack of toilets and no cafes for a coffee. I'd normally have bought a few things for the summer, but have realised that actually my clothes will last to next year.

My SIL was queuing outside Primark at 6am to buy more polyester shit she doesn’t need. It’s crazy.

I never had the money to go shopping anyway and the rare times I did, I went online.

Alex50 · 15/06/2020 16:55

My daughter went shopping with her friend today for a couple of hours, hardly any queues, not that busy.

DidSheReallySayThat20 · 15/06/2020 19:02

Everywhere here the queues were ridiculous by what people have posted on fb. The que for primark went round 2 streets! The pic looks like around 300 people in the line.
