Or just one person at a time?

You are already, if you need assistance. To be honest, there are always twosomes going around Tesco near me. I don’t mind, unless they’re getting in my space.

girlicorne · 14/06/2020 12:23

I m assuming so, I m planning on taking DS to sports direct for trainers tomorrow!!

Scottishgirl85 · 14/06/2020 12:50

Yes of course!

feelingverylazytoday · 14/06/2020 13:36

You always have been allowed to do this.
Some shops have set their own rules, but it depends on each shop and how they manage social distancing.
I've had to take my daughter with me into shops, because I'm her carer and she requires continual care. No one has ever questioned me, we just wait in the queue like everyone else and wait till we're allowed in.

Gammeldragz · 14/06/2020 13:38

In the last few weeks I've started taking one of my DS with me to do the big food shop as they are quite strong now and it saves my back! But I wouldn't have at the beginning.
I won't be going clothes shopping yet, but only because I find lockdown shopping stressful with all the rules and one way things. If I had to take the DCs I'd take one at a time, wouldn't shop as a group.

MinesaPinot · 14/06/2020 14:15

Me and DH have had no problem shopping together in the shops in our village. We're not rushing out to the shops tomorrow but certainly intend to go in a couple of weeks.

StatisticalSense · 14/06/2020 15:01

Rather than a blanket rule, for the most part non-essential shops are relying on people being sensible about who they take. Clearly it wouldn't be possible for a young child to go to Clark's alone for a fitting for example, but at the same time it isn't really appropriate for partners or children to be dragged around Primark as some would usually do.

PumpkinP · 14/06/2020 15:12

Some shops will set their own rules. I wanted to go to dunelm but it says on their website only 2 people from the same household and I’m a single parent so can’t go in Confused

JinglingHellsBells · 14/06/2020 15:22

waitrose has never allowed couples in. I have seen them stop people at the door and say only one at a time.

Not sure about John Lewis. The point is that stores are now having a maximum number of people allowed in (Waitrose have all along...) so if you take someone with you, that means another person has to wait till you both come out.

I feel it's wrong to shop with anyone unless you have to as it takes up valuable 'spaces' for others but also, you won't as a couple be social distancing, so that makes it much harder for other people to remember to do that.

MayFayre · 14/06/2020 16:05

Plenty of couples and family groups in my local Waitrose. Maybe it varies from store to store?

Paranoidmarvin · 14/06/2020 16:13

@PumpkinP I have been to Dunelm a few times. And I can tell you that is not the case. Every store may be different. But I saw more than two people in groups in our one

Mnthrowaway20202 · 14/06/2020 16:15

My 2 local Waitrose stores do not allow couples in either, strict 1 person rule. Same with Sainsbury’s and M&S within a certain retail park, they ask if you’re shopping for the same household and tell the extra person to wait outside. Tesco is pretty much a free for all.

It will be store specific for non essential retailers. I imagine that next week when they have peak footfall they will restrict multiple people going in together or heavily restrict the total amount of customers allowed inside at once. When things settle down, they may lax the solo shopping rule

Paranoidmarvin · 14/06/2020 16:52

That’s funny. Our local Sainsbury’s is awful. No one stopping u from going in. No cleaning of anything. No arrows. My Tesco they have oeople counting u in. Arrows etc. Much better.

covidmonkey · 14/06/2020 19:21

I have taken dc to nearby Coop for some weeks. Also lately to big Sainsbury's couple of times. It's a big treat for them.

PumpkinP · 14/06/2020 20:17

It says it on there website Paranoidmarvin we don’t live that close to it so wouldn’t want to take the risk.

Thisdressneedspockets · 14/06/2020 23:21

If they're going to be opening non essential ships for non essential shopping, I'll be taking my non essential children in with me.

okiedokieme · 14/06/2020 23:25

Lots of people shop together, only shop that was funny about it was Sainsburys and only when there's a queue (evenings they don't mind as the store is empty)

PicsInRed · 15/06/2020 08:42

Waitrose allows two people in if one needs assistance or in order for a parent to bring a dependent child in (i.e. single parents).

starfish4 · 15/06/2020 10:52

You might find if there are large queues, and it's one in one out, you might have to waiting an extra minute or two
