Pubs are closed so everyone's having a picnic

Just come back from a walk around our town centre (first time I've been in there for nearly 3 months) and we wandered around one of the parks in town. Was astonished at the number of groups in the park having a picnic, complete with wine, beer etc. Signs everywhere saying "No alcohol" but everyone seems to have decided stuff the rules if I can't go to the pub I'm going to have a boozy picnic.

Anyone else seen this happening in their town?

Are people in household groups and more than 2 meters apart from anyone outside of their household?
If so does it really matter. No alcohol signs in parks are so police can move on groups antisocially drinking not to prevent people having a couple of beers or a glass of wine as part of a quiet picnic.

I haven't been into town or the park? So no I haven't seen this, but if it's groups of 6 (if in England) Social distancing and they aren't handing around a bottle - then they're not breaking the guidelines.

Several sets of neighbours have people over. Definitely more than 6 adults, plus children. One lot all been playing together in the pool.

Much more risky, breaking the rules, - all you can do is hope no one is spreading it! The house with the pool has one if the grandmothers living there and she's quite old (late 80's) and frail

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it, in fact it cheered me up seeing people having a lovely time (town was bloody depressing otherwise with everything closed). Not sure how strict the no alcohol signs are meant to be, so can't comment on that.

Sounds lovely. I think we should be relaxing rules as long as people are being sensible.

Depends on where you are. In Glasgow, drinking outdoors is totally banned. The police turn a wee blind eye as long as folk are quiet and sensible, but my dc (older teens) have had friends rounded up and given a dressing down if they get rowdy.

So it might just be a suggestion but can also be legally enforceable.
