@Educationwhateducation

I’m amazed that you think the school will leave a place open for your child for up to a year and wait patiently for you to make a decision Confused

I said I ‘hope’ that they will be flexible and understanding, not that I think they will be. If at such time they insist on all children returning, I will have to make a choice as to sending DS to school or de-registering him. I don’t expect or ‘think’ anything.

September will most likely only be a return to school on an part time basis or limited to some year groups unless social distancing is reduced or extra classrooms and teachers are found. We then have winter with all the other bugs and illnesses that bring, which will allow the virus to take a greater hold, especially in those most vulnerable. The chances of all children being back full time and remaining in school through the winter are very low.

My year one Dd won’t be going back for a long time.

But I home educated My oolder child for years so I’m fine with it.

Hell no, in fact son is back 2 days a week and would be 5 if it was allowed

Undecided here. Youngest dd (6) is shielding and her year group is unlikely to be invited back until September anyway. Older dd (11) could have gone back part time 2 weeks ago but hasn't yet. Ds1 (15) could go back very part time from 22nd June - we're still unsure whether he will or not. Ds2 (13) won't be invited back until September either. Dh currently furloughed and I am WFH so we are fine for now.
I would like dd1 to get a bit of time in school before she leaves (she is in Y6) - even just a day to say goodbye to teachers would be a bonus. And I am very worried about ds1 missing out, as he is in Y10 and has GCSEs next year. But most of all, I am worried about what will happen in September if it still doesn't feel safe enough for them to go back.
