Think I did the test wrong

Just took my 1 year old to have a coronavirus test. Didn't realise I would have to do it myself. Fair enough as is less risky for the workers there. It said to try and get a swag of tonsils. I tried but he kept biting the swan so it just got wet and gross. The leaflet they gave me said if I can't do the theist swab to do a nasal swab instead. I did this, 15 seconds in each nostril. It was horrible but I did it. I've now spoken to a dr friend who said that for a reliable result you have to go way way up in to the top of the nostril. I feel like I didn't do it properly. I can see now how lots of results are false negatives. He probably doesn't have coronavirus but I'm now concerned I didn't do the test properly. Has anyone else had this worry?

Omg, swab not swan. Why can't I spell swab right?!

I had to do my 5 year old's today too. I couldn't get the tonsils for longer than 3 seconds and although I got the top of the nostril, it was for about 1 second. There is no way I could have done it again.

The nasal swab literally has to feel like your poking your brain. It's hard enough to do on adults let alone children. There must be so many false negatives because people are expected to do their own tests.

Don't think I did mine properly but I tested negative and by the time I got my results I would of been able to go to work anyway

I think a lot of young and some older children won't be able to be tested properly. I don't think I will be able to get a swab anywhere near my son.

I can see why in some parts of the UK they're only allowing over 5s!

Result came back unclear. Considering booking a test on the offer side of the country where he would be swabbed by someone else

Wow that was quick results! I'm dreading getting ours back. If they're unclear I'll cry!
