1 Metre instead of 2?

Would this be a game changer? Theyre talking about it in relation to the hospitality industry - fitting in more tables in pubs and restaurants - but wouldn't this be a positive for schools too? Less distance apart = more tables in a room/more kids in one bubble - could at least get to all kids in part time surely (talking about Primary).

WHO suggesting 1 metre apart is sufficient....would it be beneficial to the country if we adopted this measure?

All the graphs of spread models I have seen seem to show a very significant drop off of viral spread at distances above 1.5m

@TrickyWords

The difference is 3% to 13% from 2 to 1m.
What the study said as a summary was 12.8% under/equal to 1m (so covering both zero distancing and 1 metre, so not very helpful a statistic),then 1m and above 2.6%, with the suggestion that each extra metre might cut that in half.

The graph from the study is here, showing how risk drops significantly from no distance to 1, then by about half to 2, for each baseline for infection. Essentially, social distancing to 1 metre makes a big difference, then each next metre seems to cut the risk in half.

The study is here -

It will be reduced to 1m by public demand. This will happen just as soon as furlough begins to be wound down and mass redundancies begin. This will be the tipping point, the point when public opinion swings from lives to jobs.
Mid June will see redundancy consultation notices ramp up due to 12 weeks notice.
Perspective will be had once outcomes begin to be crystallised.
