Anyone else feel nervous at the possibility of going back to work when living with someone who's shielding?

Just that really, looks like my workplace is opening on the 15th, but I'm currently living with someone who is shielding.

Anyone else in the same position? Would be good to chat and settle my nerves Smile

It is a worry. My friend is in that position she works in M&S. I think it's just a case of being extra careful when you get home, get a shower straight away and wash your uniform, if you can after each shift.

@ssd I agree! I'm torn between requesting to still be furloughed as I don't think I'll be living with this person for much longer. Or just thinking 'it's time we all found our new normal' and biting the bullet and going in.

Oh I hate this!

Can you request to be furloughed for longer, my friend hasn't been asked?
I think we'll all have to go back at some point, unless you WFH.
It's a huge worry to so many.

I understand it's worrying but if you don't think you're going to be living with this person much longer I'd definitely go back. I haven't been furloughed but I know from others who are, and personally from maternity leave, that out of sight out of mind to managers means you are easier to marginalise, manage out or even make redundant. For the sake of your job I'd go back ASAP and make yourself as indispensable as possible, and take precautions when coming home - handwashing, change shoes and clothes, etc.

And if you're planning on moving out anyway can you move out now? If you minimise the overlap of you going to work and living with someone shielding, this will limit the likelihood of any contact.

All you can do is take work shoes off outside door and put into bag. Stock them in boot of your car. Once indoors go immediately to shower and then clean shower after you. Wash uniform next and dry.
