Carriers?

If you previously tested positive for covid 19, and are now negative can you still carry/spread the virus?
A friend wants to meet up and has tested positive 2 weeks ago but was asymptotic.
She works with patients that have covid and is now back at work after the 7 day isolation period.

Would you chance meeting up outside at a safe distance?

Probably not. I wouldn't. There have been reports of asymptomatic carriers shedding the virus at a slow rate, and testing positive several times. I'm guessing she has to work and her employer doesn't perceive a risk. That's between her and her employer.

I gave up work at the outset of lockdown. I have just started to work in a new role. (so called keyworker) I meet with one other friend also a key worker for a walk outside. I have done a few times since lockdown, but she and I only worked with one client. I've recently started work part time but working with multiple clients, and I feel slightly uncomfortable now meeting with anyone. So I'm surprised your friend would be happy to meet up with you.

This is what I thought but she thinks I'm being overly dramatic! She said that I could be next to someone in the queue at Tesco and it's no more risk than that 🤷‍♀️

She works with a whole ward of them, so then the risk is quite high isn't it ☹️

Do what you feel safe with if someone doesn't get that at the moment then there not worth it

2 weeks doesn't sound that long, has she actually tested negative since and that's why she's back? My friend's covid patients on her ward are still infectious many weeks on, but they were very unwell. I'd leave it an extra week or two at best. She doesn't sound very nice dismissing your concerns like that.

MiniTheMinx · 03/06/2020 09:48

I don't think you are being overly dramatic. It seems to me to be realistically cautious. If I were her I would not want to meet with people in circumstances that are non essential. In my case I took the risk of meeting key worker friend whilst I didn't work at all. Now I'm more likely statistically to pick up, or carry the disease because I'm more likely to come into contact with it than her. For that reason I'm not keen on meeting up. We are both working in roles that put us at significantly more risk than other people. Your friend should understand your fears, she should share those fears.....I don't understand why she would downplay the risk to you and others.

No not tested negative, was told after the 7 day isolation period to go back to work.

It'll be fine. You'll be 2 metres away outside.
