If your child has been going to school in the keyworker group, will they stay in that group now?

I'm a keyworker, but my DH works from home, so my DC's have been at home since lockdown started. They aren't in the years due back at the moment.

I'm now thinking about sending them in under the keyworker provisions. I know that might not even be an option now as there may be no space. I haven't spoken to school as I've only just started to consider it. DH is struggling with a heavy workload, and the DCs are struggling without their friends.

What I'm wondering is, once kids are in the keyworker bubble, is that where they would stay longer term? It would make sense of course because the point of bubbles is to maintain distancing.
I'm worried that my DC's would end up without any good friends in their bubble if we do it like this as there is no one from their friendship group attending as a key worker child.

I hope I don't sound "precious". I just want my DCs return to school to be as straightforward as possible in these strange times Sad

I'm in a similar situation. Dh and I are both keyworkers but because I WFH school would not take ds until now. The offer from school was that they would take ds from 1st June, but he would have to stay in the keyworker bubble, or from 15th June in the y1 bubble. Schools seem to be varying on whether they will let you switch to your yeargroup bubble after being in keyworker group during closure but once you have picked your bubble you have to stay in it.

I've kept my Y1 DD in the keyworker group, rather than rejoin her class. She's sad she can't see her class friends, but ultimately it came down to the fact she can only be in for 2 day a week if she went back to class, rather than all 5 by staying with the keyworker kids.

For us, it isn't optional. I am a keyworker and my DC, one of whom is in Reception, will continue to go to school on days that I am working as they have been throughout lockdown. They will be in the hall in keyworker bubbles, so DC2 will not be with the other Reception children or her teacher. However, at their school non keyworker children can only go one day a week, so the days that my DC go might not be the same day that her friends are there in Reception anyway (I work different days each week)

my dc will have to go back in Sept (Y7 and 9 currently) and they will need to go mn- Fri full days. DH and I are both keyworkers, Im working full time out of the home (NHS clinician) DH has been working form home a bit and some days in school (teacher) and so far we have managed with them at home, but they are really really struggling now and depserately need to be back at school. Due to travel we wouldnt be able to facilitate a part time timetable so if that is offered in Spet I will have to send them to the keyworker bubble - which they will hate as not with their friends/doing their regular classes etc and will really, really piss me off because while Dh and I are off out working slogging our guts out in shit circumstances are DC will be still further penalised.

DH and I spoke about it earlier. He would rather our DCs stay home with him until their year groups are called back in.
Luckily for us DH will be working from home long term, so we can manage a part time return to school so using the key worker bubble won't be necessary. Thanks all.

I can see everybody being back sooner than we think.
Look at this screenshot from the government actions for schools guidance, suggests to me they are going to allow more kids together/get back to normal numbers when 'the science' says it's safe and if we have learned anything it is that 'the science' says whatever the government wants it to say.
