According to Matt Hancock

It's just that we don't need that many tests at the moment.

How I understand it is that there are three figures. Firstly capacity - the magic 200000, then there is how many tests have been carried out - which the government releases, finally there are the number of people tested. This is the controversial bit and on the data I have seen the information is 'unavailable'. The number of tests is different to the number of people tested as people do at least two tests.

Astabarista · 01/06/2020 01:18

The number of people tested used to be available but hasn’t been for eight days running. Once it became clear the number of tests was double the number of people tested, they Were ridiculed and stopped publishing it. It was about the find it was revealed that many faulty tests, double tests etc were sent out and obviously never returned

@pfrench

So why has the number of tests carried over the last week been unavailable?

Someone just needs to sit next to these nobs holding up signs saying LIES. GASLIGHTING. And less regularly used THIS IS ACTUALLY TRUE.

This. What 'technical difficulties' cause simple data to be unavailable for a week?

They know their job better than you do

Have they got enough enzymes? Enough pipette tips?
Enough quality control?
Lab staff to do it everyday
Buffer solution

If they do 200,000 one day, can they do it everday....

What's the balance between doing antibody tests vs doing the RT-PCR tests? How many of each do we need per day - how long can we sustain this?

(oh - and I know about this stuff because I used to be a clinical biochemist doing these kind of tests)
