No Police deaths?

We had police round today - very boring reason.

I noticed they didn't social distance at all, no PPE... wondering why there's not been a reported surge in covid related police deaths...

And your response that they would garner less sympathy than the "hero's" is probably a good reason as to why not.

Also the fact as others have said that despite being in situations that you'd expect to create the perfect environment for transmission, most police are fit and

I did fine it surprising however what happened yesterday, it was like there was no virus we all seemed to totally forget about it.

Regards to shop workers, Co op and Tesco definitely (others maybe but I have no knowledge) have shielded all their employees with health conditions by paying them to be off work for 12 weeks thus less deaths.

I work for Police Scotland

Anyone who calls to report an incident is asked if they are shielding/positive/self isolating or displaying symptoms More calls are being dealt with by phone than usual.

If someone is symptomatic or positive there are officers who have full PPE kits and theyll deal with that.

That all helps as does the fact officers with underlying health conditions will most likely not be working frontline at the moment but will have been redeployed.

It all helps & so far in my experience it's certainly working

I definitely wasn't asked (SE England)

I mean, I see it as my responsibility to say so I'm not worried personally for myself but I worry for them

It's something were REALLY strict on at the moment. The call taker has to ask every caller and it has to be documented on the call. As a Despatcher I have to tell the cops whats been documented in relation to C19. If the call taker hasnt recorded it we have to phone the person back and check before anyone attends.

Everyone is being fitted for masks so it may be more common to see them wearing them out & about

Nope @Redglitter I wasn't asked

Op it isn’t being reported because it doesn’t fit the government’s narrative.

We heard so much about nhs worker’s deaths when the message was “save lives, protect the nhs.” Even thought the message of protecting the nhs was on reference to the capacity of the nhs rather than their workers. Still the faces of the men and women who lost their lives solidified that message.

Now we have moved away from protecting the nhs and we are staying vigilant instead, on a national level we are hearing less about nhs worker deaths. They are still happening as locally they are being reported but telling us about it no longer meets the needs of what the government are trying to achieve by taking steps to get back to some normality.

In simple terms the information we receive is carefully controlled where possible.

I'm police in one of the areas that had the highest reported cases in the country for a while. We have followed very minimal social distancing, had barely any PPE, shared cars, computers, refs areas etc. We've had 50-60 people in 1 room, sharing up to 15 computers at a time. We started off disinfecting everything as we came in, but it fell by the wayside. I've had colleagues who have had people who had tested positive spit in their eyes. I've had colleagues who found a mfh and sat in a car with him for 2 hours waiting for an ambulance, wearing no PPE, and the chap unfortunately died of Covid the next day.

We've had 3 positive cases on my division. All are back at work.

On @Redglitter posts above, it shows how different forces work. We started being fitted for masks then we're told they weren't required in our job role. We were given the surgical masks and told they lasted 2.5 hours before needing replacing. Supplies ran low so we were told they lasted 8 hours.

I can only surmise its due to funds. We were bringing in our own cleaning products as we weren't supplied it.
